If it's kicking back you either have too much preload, springs are too stiff or your oil isn't think enough. What weight are you running?

I think that I'm using 40wt oil. The spring I think is ok, because it has a good regulation. My shocks are the HSP 100mm Chinese.

Are the regular spring of RSD kicking back yours?

I found the RSD's to be very under damped for general use. A nice quality shock, but I had to use 8000wt diff oil to start with, then made custom pistons to work with regular 30wt oil.
I moved to traxxas big bore shocks on my scx10ii- these work with the stock springs and the damping is perfect for me using the supplied 3 hole pistons and 30wt oil. The scale looks are not as good, but the quality is a big step ahead.

Just read this whole 6 page thread to find out the real world reveiws on these and revitalizing its 7 month status. I got 2 packs of the 90mm piggybacks for my scx 10ii and a pack of 80mm non-piggyback for TH.

I'm happy to know that the RC4wd King spring rate variations will work with these. I may get the Beeftips, but not sure if the collar's size will work with these.

The beef tips will work, but need to be slightly drilled out for the shaft, and you'll need to use the axial rod ends.

My set of 90's work great with the soft spring and the 4 hole piston and 35wt oil.
I have a set of 80's im selling on the book of faces with soft springs and already built.
I bought 80's thinking i could get my truck lower but built it with the 90's and cant change it. Lol

Thanks for the tips on what needs to be done in advance.
Also, I'm sure I'll be wanting a softer spring on these. Do you suggest the Rc4wd "Krawler" spring set thats for the 110mm? Any info on a softer spring would be greatly appriciated. I noticed members had said even Gmades soft springs are still stiff.

Damnit, I didn't see your 80s for sale on any of the grops I'm in..
But if you already changed the rod ends to Axials it wouldn't work because I only got 1 pair of the 80mm for my TH's.

Was thinking of using a lower mm of shock to acheive a lower stance on my 10ii also because I was running out of options... than I thought of another Idea.

I just listed them yesterday.
And they are all stock. I havent changed the rod ends yet.
I will for the rear of my 90's to add beef tips.
But also beef tubes say they are making a brass rear lockout for the 10.2
Kinda waiting on those.

They'll sell..

I wanted to get a Pre- Beeftubed housing but axial hasnt had parts available in so long.. so I decided to get rid of the rotating mass and replace the patties with a brass DLUX knuck/c-hub setup.. the brass rear lockouts from Beeftubes sound great too, when were those going to ready if you don't mind me asking?

anyone who have these shocks know if the piston cartridge on the piggyback side slides on the aluminum body? or does it ride all the way up into the plastic body on the top?

The 110mm RK kit works great, I'm using the 0.4 and 0.8 rates.

Plastic inside the threads that hold the aluminum body. The aluminum body has a spring which pushes the piston up or let's it slide down depending on your setting.

Actually, what I wanna know if the piston's o-rings moves up and down inside the plastic section or the aluminum section. I think just based on the video they have, it sits in the plastic section.

The piston has 2 grooves that the o-rings sit in, kind of like a 1:1 2 ring piston.

This might answer your question. The rings stay in all areas of the aluminum bodies. Shock and piggyback housings.

^^^Step 6 shows the piggybacks piston and the pistons o-rings which seat inside the plastic cap. The o-ring seals stay in the aluminum housings.
