Ryan...can I patent my PW truggy design?
I plan on being a bit different.

...and a couple of headlights. I plan on reinforcing the backside of the Lexan panels behind the light mounts because without the grill, they are a little "floppy". I'll probably use mesh drywall tape and Shoe Goo.

Confession: My inner OCD lunatic made me measure that last pic with a caliper...bend radii, tube spacing, light alignment...dammit, boy, it's spot on!

This this is absolutely awesome!

What lights did you use for the headlights? As soon as I saw that I'd have to cutout the Lexan headlights on my Power Wagon body I decided that was a bad idea. Cutting perfectly round circles is impossible, at least for me. So I started thinking about plastic ones I had lying around. Yours seem like they fit perfectly.

Do you have a reamer? I used that to fit some halos in my SCX10 II cherokee grill and its great for both making circles and only making them a teeny bit bigger at a time.

I don't understand exactly what you're saying, but I do have a reamer. I don't think that would help in cutting out the Power Wagon headlights. You'd have to pierce through he center of the headlight housing.

The RC4WD fuel cell wasn't doing it for me.....so I built my own fuel cell from 1mm styrene sheet to exactly the size I wanted. I used aluminum flashing for the straps and the fuel cell fitting was in my parts box (I'm not sure which kit it came with). Just have to get it all painted now. Not only will it look better, it's lighter too, 41g (1.45oz) for the RC4WD fuel cell vs. 14g (.50oz) for the one I made.

Fuel cell is completed. I wish I had an extra Fuel Safe decal though!

I managed to salvage a Fuel Safe decal from another fuel cell that was in my parts drawer. I used a heat gun to remove it very carefully.

A little more progress....

v1 of my grill looked good, but wasn't very structurally sound and this bothered me....so I built v2. I used 1/16" styrene rod and .060 x .125" strip styrene. The rods go through all three flat pieces which took some time to drill, but the whole grill is very strong now. I think it looks better too IMHO.

I also needed a custom sized utility box for the rear shelf...so I built that from 1mm styrene flat stock and covered it with Hot Racing aluminum diamond plate.

Slowly but surely this rig is coming along. I'm pretty much ready to tear it down so I can get the chassis powder-coated.

I'm also working on a basic interior.

That's a lot of holes. You have more patience than I.

Looking good!

Here's a little secret: I made the flat strips longer than I needed and then glued them all together on the ends only. I then measured, marked and drilled through all three strips so that the holes would all be aligned for the rods. I marked one side so that there was no confusion as to the order. Once the holes were drilled, I cut the ends off and "presto", I have three pieces with the exact same hole pattern.

I take it back then...less patience, more ingenuity
