I say stick with the later style chevy grills. The earlier versions and the GMC one look like ass. Im a bit biased as my first car was a 72 chevy 4x4, but thats cuz I passed on a 68.

I have the mold in hand and am polishing, fitting and vacuum drilling while Kurt finishes up some other tooling. We'll pull some test shots here shortly. I guess there's not really much to mask depending on how it's cut out. Assuming everything goes as planned (and we can get enough material) we should have production quality parts next weekend.

Tonight, I assembled the mold components and pulled a few test bodies for John to check fitment. The front and rear are meant to be trimmed and glued to the main body. The intent was to be able to create a body with maximum detail, yet allow the body to strip off the mold without unwanted parting lines. Once fitment is verified, John will create an assembly guideline, and I will be picking up the Lexan sheet order, and pulling some bodies. John or I will update the thread when we know more in a day or two. I have been burning the midnight oil on the project in spite of 50+ hour work weeks plus part-time teaching, and will continue to do so until the orders are out the door..... |
