Its pretty low compared to most XR's in competition, but the forward bias helps it up and over breakovers pretty easily.

I also got a set of VP Wraith knuckles installed tonight. Now I can max out the stock axle shafts... with room for much more.

I celebrated what would have been my dad's 55th bday by putting a few packs through the new truck this evening. If I was ever lacking the motivation to keep pushing this truck towards world domination, I think I've found it again...

Anyway, here's a some better pics of the tie rod setup. The 1/8" Ti held up great, and the only problem that I can see is that I have to be careful not to turn too far and upset the truck on sidehills. There is noticeably more steering than before

May I steal the second picture? May you continue on, crawling over the next rock like it is the last one.

I haven't been paying as much attention here lately... how many detents past stock are you on the knuckle clocking now?

Looking good Jake.

one spline past stock, but the axle is clocked up slightly, so its somewhere in between stock and +1 spline

How much of that extra steering is actually usable?

That's nice to hear Jake.

When I tried the modded knuckles and unis I switched back immediately. It made the truck harder to drive with a quick steering setup. Like what you said, it really makes the front end drive under the car. I have been thinking of going back to it lately though and just making it one more thing to keep in mind and tune.

Sorry to hear about your pops. Didn't realize you were so young. But I guess it makes sense. I can see the macho man beard hiding such an innocent baby face

Hey, Jake. Hope all is well with you. I was wondering how your new steering set is working out for you and if you came up with any new info for us. I posted a question about articulation for you. Thanks Man..

Steering is working great so far, but I only have a few packs on it.

That's more articulation than I usually like, but judging from the rocks in those pictures I would say that it looks good. Too much flex can make things get really out of control when driving big climbs or transitions.

There are some flexy rigs that can do this well (see Skaldiddog's berg ) but everything has to be perfect for a big travel rig to work well everywhere.

Thanks for your input. I'll test it a bit more and see if i need to back it down.

I finally got a chance to install my awesome new knuckle weight setup from Nordic Crawler Designs. They put all the weight low and in front of the centerline of the axle, so I should be able to get away with running even less weight. These weights along with a few small changes should put me at 3.5lbs with all the weights added in

Once I get my hands on some CF wheels, I'll experiment with pushing the weight plates further out to maximize the effect. With the blitz wheels the weights can only be mounted inside the mount.

hey Jake !!! Nice knuckle weights, Tomy surely makes awesome products...

I need some advice man, I mounted my big bore shocks as you did with your SCX10 ones on your rig, 40wt all around, mini t silver in the rear, like 80mm long, tried the whole panel of mini-t springs for the front (pink, red, orange), a bit over 90mm and the fact is that when I go front dig, I can observe the truck lowering itself like at full compression !!!! Is it normal ? What is it due to ? What can I do to fight this in case of wrong setup ?
thanks for your input champion...
