Robinson Racing Gen 3 slipper for 1/10 Yeti works.

I haven't used it much. I went on a rip it apart and change it all spree! I did use it for the third time last night hooked up to a Tekin 1550kv motor ran by a castle XL2 ESC and my 6s lipos. Dang thing moves now! Slipper worked real good. I did have to tighten it down more. Just 1/8 turns at a time till it just slips the right amount. It's all by feel really. You can hear when it slips too much. You want a little slip but not so much that it's always slipping. And it will bite more as it warms up and seats/breaks in.

Yup, saw that and just posted. I found that my rear small hub had rotated 180 degrees from the flat spot....

I haven't had any issues no. I only did this because the stock slipper pads are aluminum and They galled up really bad and uneven and I wasn't getting any slip.
My RR set up has always been used on 6s also. IDK I feel bad you guys had issues.

I personally hold no blame at Robinson Racing. The slipper is a well made and machined product. I followed instructions and am only on 4S. I call it part of the game and move on. Yeah it did not work for me oh well that doesn't mean its a bad product. I went back to stock and am happy so I just move on and have fun.

I installed the Robinson racing slipper and it has worked well for me. I've run it once on 6s with 13t pinion and twice on 4s with 14t pinion. The slipper is tightened almost as far as it can go and is slipping just a little bit. I like the performance as it is. With the stock slipper it was locked no matter how much I loosened it because I too had galled up pads. That caused havoc on my ring and pinions in front diff because when landing jumps nose down I would try throttling it to pull the nose up and when I didn't let off the throttle in the nick of time it would land hard on the front wheels and with no slip that energy would transfer to the front diff hard. I hope with some slip I don't have the same problem.

I'm not sure why it hasn't worked for some. My rig has a lower KV motor and 6s geared for 40/42 mph. I have to add some punch control on it or loosen the RR unit because I can't nail it too early because it flips over. I was thinking to move my upper arms to another hole for more squat but I haven't looked into what hole is more squat...higher or lower. I just beat up my Nitros yesterday with no breakage so today is XL day!!

I just installed the RR Gen 3 slipper last night and it bolted right up. Don't know why but I didn't have to ream the hole in the trans case, it was already big enough.

Got a chance to run the RR Gen 3 today, it was about 1/4 turn from max and slipping like crazy. What are you guys doing to get it to bite?

Same problem here. I never could get it to work for me on 4S so I threw the stock set up in and let it eat.

Mine's tightened like a nut. Spring is fully compressed. I made adjustments in degrees instead of 1/4 turns until it seemed right to me. It slips a decent amount, but I can still get one wheel off the ground at a hard launch with the kit version (I.e Axial rear sway bar installed). I'd rather fry the clutch than the drivetrain

Sock it down all the way...then back it off 1/8 at a time until it's where you want it.
How did you not have to open the trans a little? The suport hub must be rubbing pretty good against the case?

Thanks for the advice. I will take it apart and make sure it's not rubbing on anything. But you're talking about the cheap plastic trans case correct?

Yes..where the output shaft exits. A center diff....that would make this a giant solid axle truggy wouldn't it?

Forgive me on the center diff comment. I'm just out of my comfort zone with the slipper clutch. I know how to tune differentials no problem.

Finally got back out today after adjusting the slipper. Running perfect! Doing some nice wheelies. I'm glad I did research on the tires before assembling them. The gorilla tape on the inside make a big difference. Almost no ballooning.

I want to do this mod, but I'm trying to wrap my head around the impact of going from a 68t spur to the 64t spur of the Robinson Racing slipper. Currently I run 68t spur and 17t pinion on 4s. My gear ratio is 4.00. Going to 64t spur to 17t pinon the gear ratio would be 3.76. Could that cause the motor to overheat? Drop torque? These numbers seem small and don't seem like they would make much difference. However, when I went from a 17t from the stock 15t pinion, the speed increase was very noticeable to me. With the 68t and 17t pinion, I'm really happy with the torque and speed of the vehicle.

Motor temps for me after hard driving are around 130 and 140 after "I just stole this Yeti XL" driving.
