I can't figure out how they don't flex around like crazy and how the two little tiny mounting points on the nose keep it attached (and effective). I know, carbon fiber... but still. I don't mind em. Technology! Six or so rows of coolness.

| Re: PeePee's F1 thread And lot's of wind tunnel testing. The shape of them has everything to do with them directing air rather than being controlled by it. One of the aircraft parts my job manufactures is turbine fan blades, I have been fortunate enough to be invited by the engineers to a wind tunnel to see how they test them. Same principal applies to any type of air diffuser on an F1 car. |

Yes, I nah. What I'm saying though is why would you mess with the Batmans!? No actually, I'm just (slightly) impressed the two small mounting points can... hold the wing on. 2014 wang, but still same concept |

| Re: PeePee's F1 thread I'm with you there. The amount of down force those wings generate is mind boggling (at least for my feeble mind) and given the sheer size of the wing coupled with the down force they generate, it is amazing that they can be held to the car with mounts as small as they are.

Last year for these Who will get the next tire supplier bid? Edit: My mistake... Somehow I thought we were in 2016 for a moment. Last edited by DickyT; 02-12-2015 at 01:07 PM. |

Got something for me to read about Pirellis? I bet they don't go away. They've done way too good of a job at making it entertaining.

Pirelli finally seal F1 tyre contract renewal until end of 2016 season | Sky Sports I bet they (pirelli) will be working hard to extend that though. Last edited by DickyT; 02-12-2015 at 01:05 PM.

Only concern is that testing again. They used Merc last year and that naturally caused some friction because they (obviously/possibly) might have gained a small advantage. I really see it hard for a new manufacturer to come in unless everyone (Pirelli) starts all over. I'd guess no one would risk going with a different tire unless is better, and then everyone would switch, so why bother? Money money money. |

And people complain about the cost of F1 also. Then they go away. Engine cost seems a little over the top, but they are pretty. freaking. sweet. |

From that article I linked: " teams like Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren has an average spending of around $320 Million a year which involves car cost, drivers and backroom staff while other smaller team do the same thing at mere $60 million a year. "

Is it March 13th yet? Practice for the Malaysia GP starts on my b-day! I may just have to take a personal day off from work for that. |

Yeah, and who is out front or ahead? Pay to play. Ferrari sells road cars to fund their F1 effort. Always has. Imagine how much money Redbull throws around all over the place. Renault must love them. The cash must be endless. Pretty sure the money spent in F1 tops the charts in sports. |

6.7 BILLION! In sales! $2 at a time! They're worth 7.5 and any smart company has a narrow profit margin so imagine how much they throw away on advertising. Crazy. And honestly, why even bother with advertising anymore? Oh cause we need mediocre girls driving around in stupid Suzukis with a huge can of RB on the back... Makes (the average) 9.4 million on a car not seem like so much. Now, if they'd focus that money... oye. I bet Horner and Newey are paid more than the drivers. |
