Don came out and brought the splash shield so we threw it on. It looks MUCH better with the right color on it..

Then the rest of the goods to finish off the front of the car. The bumper has a funny twist to it so I used a bottle jack to get it close. I would say its not perfection but looks damn good. Me and Don sat there and commented how shocked my dad will be when he see's it on saturday.

Well its unsure if the rear bumper will show tommorow so we might have to do without it. But thats how it goes and I am sure my dad won't mind since I will have more to do to it this next week to wrap it up.

My dad has been doing good. Since its been almost 2 months with no chemo he's regained a bunch of strength that he lost (still some after effects) but over all he's doing VERY good. Thank you for asking..

The special rivets showed up for the door plate. These were a piece of cake to install with a punch..

Now---time for that day.....

Started by giving the car a GOOD wash/dry with a shammy.

Spent a good part of the morning getting the house ready. I finally came up with a plan to give the car to my dad. Sounded like there were going to be allot of folks here so I put the car under the carport and gave it a runway..

Had to show off some old parts. This was a last minute thing and wish I had thought of it a while ago and Don could have grabbed the old quarters before they went to scrap.

More to come once I grab the wifes SD card..

So the wife wanted a bow on it. We didn't get a chance to buy one of those BIG ones--so the wife and a couple other friends did one up.

So here was my plan. Once my parents got into town my mom was going to call. Once they called we put a tarp on the fron t of the carport so they could not see the car which worked perfectly.

Well since my sister could not make it on time we had to wait and we had to keep my dad from seeing the car (he tried but kyle held him off--ha ha).

So we sat him down and blind folded him..

Can ya tell he's a camera nut,lol..

So we pulled the tarp and the blind fold--. He turned instantly red and didn't quite know what to do or think--it was a perfect moment that made all these months and hard work worth it...

I am going to have video here soon--caught it all on camera.

It was just flat out, well it could not have been ANY better. My dad and mom just walked around the car looking inside and out. He was just a loss of words, ya it was perfect..

He sat in the drivers seat and asked if I want to go for a ride. I said nope---its your turn..

Mom hopped in....

And off they went to run around the block..

Here is very happy dad--I don't think he stopped smiling.

Time for some poser shots, lol (I blame the wife).

Me, dad and Don.

Sure--I'll Don for a ride. I pulled out and acted like I was going to do a burn out--but I was afraid of scattering that 3 speed,lol..

Sorry buddy--not yet (my boy kyle).

Some more poser shots

So I got the car put back in the shop at 9pm--was a good long day...

So my dad said "ya that tranny is noisey" lol...

So here are the things left.

Rear bumper didn't show up yet and will put that on when we get it.

The fuel guage doesn't work. The sender is bad so monday I am going to try and get the sender out first to make sure the fuel tank is ok before we order a new sender.

The trans is noisey. Going to pull that on monday and disassemble it to see what the next move is--either fix it or find a used one.

The rad still leaks so I think we are going to replace that.

Both horns are dead and my dad was some chrome ones,lol..

So its not done yet but very close..

Thank you. I actually was not nervous at all. I was just too busy and too happy to be anything but perfect.

So this morning my dad is at the doctors getting another scan done and we should have the preliminary results tonight and all the good info on weds.

So I am out in the shop getting ready to pull the tranny and now that my dad has seen the car I can turn the webcam back on.
