So are there more Trophy Trucks or rally cars? Do they run together?

Mine will be here Monday.

I have been checking out this the RC rally stuff on youtube and it seems to have a good following in Europe.

Some of the videos are pretty cool!

acropolis.wmv - YouTube

When is the next race or get-together?

That video is awesome!! Do we have to run with the vehicles, because I don't think Ty could do that with those jeans he wears.

just sayin.

Well now there are more Minis then anything else with everyone that has jumped on board, but there are several rally cars as well all based on the DF03Ra.

Belt drive will probably work quit well on the track there is not very much gravel in the area and if you run some type of under body it is even better.

Planning the next get together for November 20th around 10am. It will be a fun day till I get a timing unit and some more tracking going. But it would be great to get a bunch of guys out check out the track and do some runs. We can definitely run a mini comp.

Been working on putting together a rally car tonight.
I was going to use the TA02 but the wheelbase is too long for a touring car body.
So I pulled out the trusty old 4-Tec from the bottom of the parts bin. Years ago I bought some stuff to convert it to a rally car after it was done being a crawler. I've got some old HPI rally tires (NIP), the stock wheels, a set of black stock car wheels, and a mint stock body. I've just been searching for parts and it's coming back together pretty well.

It's belt drive but I'll put the lexan on it to help with dirt.

Both diffs are locked so I don't know if it will handle very well but who cares, as long as I get to race some rally!!!!

This is why I never throw anything away or sell anything. You never know when it'll come in handy again.
That one on RCSC would be sweet.

If you have a spare esc we could put it in the TA02 and you could drive something at least...

Well, the 4Tec rally is coming together nicely. For a parts bin build I think it's turning out alright.

I rebuilt the shocks, found some parts to rebuild the ball diffs, made a full length skidplate out of lexan, rebuilt the steering and installed a Hitec 645, picked up a set of sway bars, and found a slipper clutch in my parts bin. I'm going to run a 21T Holmes Pro Handwound on 3S with a waterproofed Sidewinder.

I might need more travel and clearance up front but what I've got will have to do for now. I'm ordering HPI rally tires tonight, I hope they get here in time.

Anyone seen this video yet?

That look cool Chris. I'm pretty sure that I'll be out there Saturday and looking forward to seeing it. As far as travel goes, see what it is like first. The Tamiya DF03RA really don't have all that much suspension travel either, biggest thing that I found that seemed to help the most was raising the body a little so the front end didn't dig in so hard on bumps and jumps.

Cool Video, haven't seen that one yet.

Nice Grizzly Bear! Cut that front lip up/off and it will help with what Todd is talking about, digging in was slowing Rodney down quite a bit for a while, just trimming it up a little does wonders.

I guess the tires should give you a little more too.

If your tires don't come in time let me know!

For reference here is where mine currently sits and it works really well, besides traction rolling from time to time.

Granted I do have some soft springs up front, so it does squat under heavy breaking, but gives you somewhat of an idea.

I'll bring some scissors saturday so we can modify if you want. The first step really is getting out there.

Great video, that guy has tons of them.

Check out the site, you will be watching videos for days!

Thanks guys. I wish I could make it look more like a rally car but without decals there's not much more I can do besides the lights.

I trimmed the front spoiler and the rear of the body last night and the clearance is looking better. I can get the ride height of the front end up but I need to make a shock mount bracket to eliminate a clearance issue.

Like you said, just getting it out and running it will tell me what needs to be done. If it holds up I'll order an Imprezza body for it next month.

Got home from the hospital, and it was on my doorstep. This thing is cooler than I thought. I guess I was thinking it would be smaller and cheaper feeling, but I'm surprised by the size and heft. I can't imagine the tires lasting more than a few hours though...they feel pretty hard. And I'm pretty pissed about one of my running light stickers being put on crooked.

Sweet!!! Now I can't wait, mine should be here tomorrow.
Lookes like the wheels are 2.2, I've got some tires I made for my Slash that should work well.
