you take it out if your rx is being powered already by another esc or a bec, you don't want to feed too much voltage into the rx

bukwylde, you did calibrate the winch ESC to the radio, correct?

Also curious to see if you have it wired backwards....battery to the motor leads, not the ESC input.

Hope you get it figured out & that it's not a dud ESC.

The reason to lift one of the ESC's red wires is so that only one source of receiver power exists. If both ESCs are trying to power the receiver, it might cause a problem as one of the ESC's built in BEC might be a slightly higher voltage than the other and cause current to flow the wrong way and maybe overheat one of these built in BEC. To make sure this doesn't happen, we just remove (slide out and insulate one of the red pins) a red wire from one ESC.

i would also contact the place you bought it from and see if they happen to know which set of wires go to what....i would hate to see you swap them around and have that esc go up in smoke.....

thanks Al

by the way,
one more question here is that, how can I calibrate my winch ESC?
I have FXR ESC for my rig, and trying to use B1R esc for my winch, so I basically just follow the manual to calibrate my B1R, right? but do I also plug in the FXR when I calibrate the B1R??

I would leave the rig motor ESC disconnected, then use the winch channel switches/buttons to calibrate the winch ESC.
I do not know how it needs to be calibrated though, do you have a manual for it?

I think you should plug away man, I know your stuff is great and it doesn't hurt that its canadian made too I only used this because I had it kicking around but my advice too is to get your controller for a much better experience.

You know the miniqlo is only good for 2s lipo if you are direct wiring it, thats why I chose to supply power to it from a cc bec out of the rx. This allows me to run the whole system on 3s, that was the reason why I never ended up buying a heyok at the time cause his controllers required the use of a battery and doesn't work well on a bec.

There's my opening!

I'm glad you asked.
This controller:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vendo...ontroller.html
Will work fine up to 2S

But for more voltage handling, one of the controllers listed here would fix you up:

Those controllers are described in this thread:

Winch Controller - Relay Driven - External Power

For a time my HV controller had issues when running from a BEC. That has been resolved!
