Yeah, hundred bucks, or thereabouts gets any number of very nice servos. Personally the Promodeler stuff just clicks...but I have a HH in my bomber, and the reef rc units are really nice as well. Another comp down today and two rigs with ds3218s and they did just great. Now that my rig can do it I just need to learn how to drive better - could have zero'd all the gates and got the bonus points if I could drive it. EcoPower WP120T Coreless Waterproof High Torque Metal Gear Digital Servo (High Voltage) Not sure this would be cheap at $$69.95, but 400oz@ .09 using7.4v. But it’s waterproof, quiet and works well in a 1.9 truck. I took a gamble but AMain stands behind what they sell. I am quite happy! Hang up and Drive |

Weren't the Ecopower servos found to still have a plastic gear inside? Regardless, we'll wait patiently for your feedback.

I'm loving my Turnigy 959v2. I know some guys have had issues with them stripping a gear, but I haven't had an issue since hobbyking sent me the new one. I put the twitchy one on the Dingo and both rigs are doing great with them. The one on the Dingo is only running off the internal BEC on the 1080. Haven't noticed any heat or anything after running a full battery through either rig.

| Re: What the newest cheap servo hotness? Maybe relevant... Although I haven't tried or even bought any servos from 3Bros, I did contact them with a couple questions regarding their connectors. They were very courteous, helpful, and quick getting back to me ( within minutes and this was maybe 7pm). I know that doesn't say anything about their products but it does make me feel that they are a solid company when it comes to customer service.

| Re: What the newest cheap servo hotness? Seems like a lot of servo for the money. Maybe I'll give one of those a try in my Gen8 instead of moving the 959v2 over.

Discontinued at hobby king, but aliexpress shows them for $33 or so. But 500oz/in at 7.4V? The other servos in this range are four times the money...give or take. Something doesn't seem right to me. And they show two transactions for this product in the last 6 months. An ebay seller state-side, 1 sold of 9 available. I would by a REFF, HH, or ProModeller first. | |

I'm still interested to know if anyone tried any of those SPT servos out. Those might give the DS3218 a run for their price/value combo.

If it really has steel gears, that could be a real jem.

You guys are late to the party! The JX servos have been discussed at great length in this thread already. The Cliff notes: Yes, they really have steel gears, they are mechanically direct copies of the HH500V1 servos, back-doored so to speak, by a former employee of the factory that manufactured the old V1's. The upside is that the Holmes gears are a direct fit, the downside is that the gears and pin WILL be the failure point... hence the reason Holmes Hobbies came out with a V2. The electronics are a bit different though, so they really do put out more power than the old Holmes V1, but knowing that 500oz could kill the gears, 650oz just kills them faster. I killed the thin gear on the intermediate shaft in about one month, sometime last year, while it was installed in my Wraith. I installed the Holmes rebuild kit and just put it back into service (this time in my scaler/1.9 car) a few days ago. I'm going to cut back from 7.4v to 6v to reduce the torque output in an effort to prolong gear life and increase reliability. Word on the streets is that coreless motors have quicker response than brushless, they just draw more juice. |

Quality control is near non-existent on these as well, "You pays yer money and you takes yer chances!" At least 3 people have toasted the most high-end of the JX, the BLS-12V7146... (myself included) |
