They used to sell a kit for rebuilding, discontinued now - trying to find the size of the bearing - More info here: https://www.amainhobbies.com/castle-...024-00/p216276 "The 1400 series motors use a 14mm x 5mm x 5mm, double shielded, double sealed bearing" https://www.amazon.com/CASTLE-Hybrid.../dp/B01N9INHNR Or any brand, Boca and others make them... You need to tell that guy to come here and ask the question himself. As we know F***book is worthless when you need quality factual information. He needs to become an RCC member! Last edited by Inspector86; 08-11-2018 at 07:28 PM.

I have that exact motor, if he doesnt have it yet why is he worried about the bearings? You rarely have to change them, even running it a lot.

Apologies - there was some confusion regarding bushings vs bearings... I listed the bearing size and a link to a seller. If you need the bushings pictured in post #663 - try the following: Contact usernames robert@castle and/or Thomas Porfert here, they are both Castle reps that visit this forum... Or calling Castle direct would be a top priority if it were me - you will likely be speaking to Thomas Porfert or one of his coworkers and they should have the information. Any of his motors will be good. They are all made for crawling. there are differences that only you can decide whats best for you. Crawlmasters are god with low end resolution. Torquemasters have more low end torque. Trailmasters are afordable and good bang for the buck. Bigger 550 motors have more torque then 540 motors. Handwound motors have better performance over machine wound motors. The trick is more in getting the right speed motor for you. There are gearing/speed calculators that help with that. Holmes recommends gearing down and volding up. On a Hobbywing I would recomend running 3s batteries. Unfortunately there is no best motor that does everything better then all the others (stupid laws of physics!). For me the best is a trail master sport 21t 550. Lots of power and affordable. Can't go wrong with a TorqueMaster 27t motor for general scale use.

I'm getting ready to order one of the Trailmaster brushless motors and a Mamba X ESC and I was wondering if I needed to add the bullet connectors to that setup or if everything was there already

I think the description says the motors and esc battery side are bare wires. The motor side of the mamba max are 4mm bullets.

stock is fine on the scx10ii or scx10. if you don't know what that is, start with the smallest pinion you can get.

To clear up the guy's bushing question: He contacted me on instagram and I was able to help him. He wasn't asking about the bearings. He was interested in the brass spacers that sit on the motor shaft. He had his bearing fail and seize up, which caused the brass bushing to wear against the inner race of the bearing. He had the bushing wear down to about half it's normal size. For future reference: The bearings in all 14xx motors are 5x14x5mm. The brass spacers are both 2.8mm+-0.05mm long, have an ID of 5.04mm+0.10mm, and an OD of 6.5mm. |

Awesome response, robert@castle - thanks SO much for posting that up where it can be found with a search here on the forums! Can someone contact Castle for such parts in cases where they are needing to be replaced? |

Sadly because the motors are made in China, we don't stock any of the parts in our offices. We need to get motor rebuilt kits produced that would contain these parts.

I was curious, because those rebuild kits were available in the past, as I found a couple links to them - but they show as discontinued. The AMain Hobbies links are now dead, but there were 2, one for the 3.5mm shaft & one for the 5mm shaft: https://www.bigsquidrc.com/rebuild-k...1410-and-1415/ |
