On another note, I'm dying to get back into a Crawlmaster. However, I'm torn between your options! My rig is almost right at 5lbs on the dot. What would you recommend John? This will be connected to a Mamba Micro. Puller 400 w/ 5 slot Puller 500 w/ 5 slot Crawlmaster Magnum Custom 540 w/ the 5 slot Crawlmaster Pro What is different about the "custom 540" from a regular crawlmaster pro? Will the Puller 400 have enough power for a 5lb rig? Is the magnum to much motor? Oh and what is the lead time on a custom motor? SInce I'm running TRX-4 gear on my All Time Low I'll need a reverse rotation motor.

In older esc's when you went down hill the drag break was either on or off. So if your drak break stops the car 100% when you gradually apply throttle it will suddenly release. The motor being under power Will not slow the car down. Freewheeling allows for the drag brake to be applied even under throttle. This allows you to maintain a super slow decent even with a 100% drag brake. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

I would choose a custom pro or puller 500 depending on if you want to shed weight. Custom pro vs Crawlmaster, custom pro has heavier gauge wire for more torque and power, and also typically has a skewed arm for smoother startup

Since Holmes Hobbies got that new Dino, I have Ben curious about how a high turn higher voltage motor compares to a low turn lower voltage motor which end up having the same max rpms. Could you post up some Dino charts and a quick summary of the results? Like a 45t on 4s vs a 27t on 2s. Or better yet, make a video!

That's the plan I have for the next big tech vid. Its turning into quite the video, gonna be long. I'll have a lot of time just running the dyno to prep.

There is so much more to it than selecting a motor that is the right speed for the stock gear ratio when you have the ability to change voltage and gearing. personally I like to get the fast motors and gear them way down. I like my 100:1 Crawlmaster 550 10T on 3s, but I don't know that that is the best way.

I can change the dyno flywheel weight, which is effectively like taller gearing.

I want one, just don't see that it would get much use after a Month or so. Probably should sell some other toy I don't use any more and get one though. Resale might not be terrible on them.

Are there any seriously adverse effects of giving the trailmaster sport motors a douche with WD-40 occassionally? Sent from my SM-J727V using Tapatalk |

WD40 is a no no. I rarely use it and on motors it would just cause dirt to stick. Also might have other negative effects that people with more brains than me could tell you about.

What about rubbing alcohol to to clean motors, then lube the bushings. That's how I broke mine in. Alcohol was to dry up the water I think to reduce corrosion. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

In classes where you can say only race a 35t motor and you want it faster, advancing the timing makes sense. But i don't see the benefit in my crawling,. I only noticed increasing the advance increased the minimum rpm, so I got rid of it right away. So I may be missing something.
