Ya know, I hate to challenge a conventional way of thinking... especially if it works... but...

I was forced to setup my sporty steering a bit different. After I set it up, I soon realized how good it was so I wanted to see if I could copy that same idea over to my Berg. It worked!

The obvious benefits
Better approach angle - not much is in the way now. Almost my full front end is at a 90* approach angle
No more bent/bashed servo horns, rod ends and steering linkage
No more broken servos (output bearings and cases were a huge problem)

Not so obvious until you drive it
The servo now rotates and is inline with the steering king pin rotation almost all the way through the throw. This is HUGE! If you look the way the old setup was, it was only really in line most of the way when turning left and then 60% (?) when turning right? Being in line almost all the way through the throw is giving more power, consistently and the feel of the steering is much better. On my old setup, when I was 70% of my steering throw, the steering got much slower and weaker. Now, until 95% or so of my throw it has the same feel, power and speed.

I will be the first to admit, it does not look right! It will be staying on my car though. It drove great!

Do you have a pic from the front? How high does the servo horn stick up?

Funny, that is the one thing I wanted to work on was the vertical angles. Try and flaten them out some.

Here are some pics.

What I am running now, unless I can figure anything else out.

That is truly unconventional. Just looking at it. Looks like right turns would have the power while left would have the speed. That is interesting that you have found it is an even feel. Good find! Really gets things out of the way. Might give it a try.

I will try to pay more attention to left vs right. I didnt notice anything. Its easier to notice when turning left, turning left, turning left ah, difference rather than turning right, turning left,..... difference?????

One thing that was also significant, which goes along with what I said above, is when at full lock either way I felt I had quite a bit more power. Before, if I was at full lock, you pretty much had to drive to turn if it were bound. There was still some situations where this was happening but no where near as many.

What the roast beef?

That ish looks cray.

Full lock to the left looks just straight bizarre.

But I'd doubt you'd run it if you didn't see gains.

Servo placement hasn't changed has it? Just born and linkage?

Didnt even need to change the horn, just flipped the servo, new drag link and different types of rod ends.

Just another one of those things that I may have to add too the "too crazy for people to try but works really good" bin.

No sir! We both run twin-stick radios. Just some programming changes on the 6EX. I could never go back to a pistol.

Same here!
Once I got used to sticks I could never go back to pistol...

That's one funny looking setup for the servo!
I'm tempted to try it on my bully since you say that there's an improvement in servo strength.
