You need the top gear and all slipper parts as shown, shim the gear equally on both sides to center the top gear to the idle gear. Assemble the tranny and the slipper. The spur gear will be in the exact same spot the stock gear was.

I am going to do some stuff to the front end.

I want the front track width a little wider than the rear

High clearance steering link.

Aluminum knuckles.

You will need Associated #3965 it is the crush sleeve that is in between the front knuckle bearings.

With the hex on the outside of the pin, the clamping hex helps keep it on the shaft not stuck in the wheel. It needs to have the little lips remove for the long pins that come with the axles.
Same thing if you use the plastic hex. A 1/16" drill bit works to remove it.

I just grab any link laying around and attach one side, measure how much longer it needs to be or shorter.

Then add what I need to the link length.

Here is where a lathe is earning it's keep

Cut the new link with the added length, center drill, drill, screw in the long set screw, screw on the link all on the lathe.

To raise the link wheel collars are just about right or a 1/4" spacer.
the Aluminum knuckles won't flex as much. The higher clearance will get the links closer to the servo for a better angle.

I just might have to get a set of these bad boys.
Black jack, Ti links, Losi shocks and these would be pretty darn nice combo

For the electronics I used another battery tray, (well now it's a radio tray) and mounted it on the rear axle. This let me install the speed control and RX pretty low and fairly simple.

Use the battery Velcro strap for servo wire management.

On to some wheel stuff,

I have used Erickson, MSD, Axial, RC4wd.

The MSD are my favorite, they do require drilling out the center hole to 3/16" I don't know why the hole is the size it is, but I am sure it's good for everything else.

On all wheels I have needed to add a spacer on the outside of the wheel under the wheel nut.
If you have the wide front setup you don't need a spacer.

Axial wheels fit with just the spacer under the wheel nut.

RC4wd have a strange hole and need just the right spacer to fit in the hole.

I have heard that the size of my nuts has caused problems with some custom wheels.
