The more I look at these, the more I want some. Maybe in a few months I will have to break down and buy some.

I have had a few ask about the HH Cobalt motors, having never used one I wasn't sure what would happen in my axles. I scored a 10t in the for sale section and built a chassis to test it out in. 2 things I found out after running it in yesterdays comp. Not only did the axles hold up well, I highly recommend the 10t it had a very smooth controlled power band. I ran a 2cell LiPo with A Tekin FX-R. Very nice set up. (Thanks to Kaetwo for helping me with the drag brake setting) I also tested a 3cell without any problems, I prefer the 2 cell for comps. The chassis I made from leftover 1.0"x.125" from Lowes was pretty easy to make and worked just fine. I cut 4 pieces of 1"x5"x.125" tacked them together with 3M77 and drilled all the holes then I could bolt them together and cut them out. It's a 4 piece chassis all 4 pieces are identical. I call it the 1" chassis 4 of the new Losi shocks and 8 stock Traxxas links. Mike |

I just picked up a set of these axles and will start a build thread using a BlackJack chassis with them. I can't wait to get them on the rocks.

Maybe I'm missing something, but those LOOK like plastic, and there's nothing that says what they are made of. And, the same part number on Towerhobbies says it's plastic... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNZ99&P=7 |

Putting Poulsons under a BlackJack chassis. Hopefully the perfect combo of low center of gravity and high ground clearance. Poulson axle BlackJack build thread |

Well I was gonna put ax-10 diffs in my sling shot but now I'm second guessing it... by the time you beef them up you could just throw a few more bucks in to get these! Oh and by the way killer thread!

Do the ring and pinion need to shimmed to last ?

Here are some gear shimming guide lines. Most diffs need 3 shims to properly pre load the bearings. This is the side to side play on the spool, its best if there isn't any side to side movement. With 3 shims on the side show in the picture this moves the gear towards the pinion. |

There needs to be at least 1 shim on the pinion input shaft to keep the gear from rubbing the case.
