I think you should wait til the weekend to epoxy. Taking your time is paramount.

And I heard your roommate stayed up to long playing MW3....:(

Good work!

I think I'll just be cleaning tonight, that way it will just be stinking up the house while you're gone this weekend.

No problem, I have just seen what poor prep has resulted in. I office at an airport and have seen several hangars with bad epoxy jobs and pealing paint. With the cost being around 20-25k for 10k square feet it's a costly mistake.

The thing with epoxy is that once it's down and fully cured, you can't just paint back over it like normal paint. You actually have to sand it down then use a reactivating agent to allow new epoxy to adhere. Not a fun process, have had to do it where before where a floor got damaged.

It's no different than any other type of painting on the front end, all the labor is in the proper prep. The actual installation of the epoxy is a cake walk. Some people will tell you it doesn't matter, but I have experienced otherwise.

Also make sure and wax it after it's fully cured, helps in repelling any chemical stains. Any mop on type wax will work.

Nice work Harley keep up good work it's coming real sweet also by the looks of the drawing you got. It just might make me move out of Miami, and up North so I can have a basement as well. But for now I have to make space move $hit around in my shed to make a work station. Not as good as yours but it will do for now.

Just went to lowes and picked up the kit. I went with the 2.5 car garage kit just to be sure I have plenty.

I also had it tinted...

Sure did, $120 was good enough for me. Cost me $170 out the door though because I needed a broom and dust pan and roller, etc.

Haha.... I wish :-)

I went with Charcoal gloss. I like dark, even though I'm sure it will show dirt more.

Doing a good initial cleaning with just water.

I'll hit it next with some murratic acid to really clean it. Then start the etching process for the kit.

I was reading about the murratic acid. You have to rinse it with a baking soda solution after, right?

I used that epoxy paint in my basement and I think it turned out real good. I scrubbed for 2 days after removing the carpet from the floor. The key to make it stick is clean clean clean. I would watch out using the murratic acid without very good ventilation. I used bleach and water with all of the windows open and a lot of box fans turned on. In the end I have no peeling or chipping and thats with a lot of foot traffic from people playing pool and getting intoxicated.

Had a little bit around, I normally use gardening stuff. The murratic solution wasn't too harsh but put off some minor fumes. A couple good rinses Later and we were ready for the etch that came with the kit.

Did a good scrub with that etching solution and two more rinses later... I'm finally sitting on the couch.

That floor should be fawking spotless!

The floor should look killer. It looks like you're doing things right. I did the epoxy in my garage on my new house and it's just so clean and perfect looking. Follow the instructions and we'll be watching Jealously in the making!

Should have ordered some orange and black flakes to go into the epoxy. :-)
