Like everybody else, I always wanted a Tamiya Bruiser as a kid, but couldn't afford one. Can't afford a rerelease now either. I stumbled on the clone and read up everything I could about it and watched some videos and took the plunge. I ordered one of these from Bang good. $207 with shipping and it arrived on the 15th. So far, I've removed two of the back leafs and the middle leaf in the front. Last night, I took the rear axle apart and locked it but haven't had a chance to try it out. I'm really pleased with it so far. Have no experience to compare it to a real one, but for $200 I'm pretty happy. I've got some tires and wheels coming for it. Need to take a picture of it and upload it here, but I'm stuck at work right now.

Does anybody have the instruction manual? Mine was missing as well as the stickers. I've lost the screw that connects the rear driveshaft to the transmission and I'm not sure what its called or the dimensions. I looked online and found the instructions for the Bruiser, but it uses a 5x5mm grub screw and the HG P407 uses something else. Its like a grub screw, but also has a pin that goes through the driveshaft holding it in place. It's like the screw used to lock the diffs, but a different size. It'd be great if somebody could check their manual for me. Thanks.

I had one of the hg-p407 bruiser clone. I really liked it but very poor quality. Broke two axles the screws on the battery plate just fell apart. I did original a Aluminum Tamiya wheels and the shape ways front servo mount. In the end I didn’t want to spend anymore money or wait forever for parts. I kept the body which is now on my element trailwalker and sold the truck on eBay for basically parts. |

I recently bought one of the new HG-P417 trucks, also known as the "Middle East 4x4 Pickup". Of course I was dubious about the quality I should expect and at the time I bought it there were no reviews to check. Also, I have an original Tamiya Toyota High Lift so I was intrigued by the new model. The price was low enough for me to take a gamble and see if the new P417 would turn out to be as infamous as the earlier P407 Bruiser clone. First impressions of the new model are actually very good. It is essentially a clone of the Tamiya Toyota Hilux High Lift with 3-speed transmission. Chassis and body materials are mainly better quality than I expected. It is available in RTR form only at the moment. Factory assembly was for the most part okay although I haven't stripped the whole model down yet. I bought the "desert camouflage" version and I think it looks great.
