good news bad news.....

Bad news... Lockport has a city ordance against rc cars in the park.

Good News, I spoke with the lockport park distric commisioner (Sue Micklevitz) and she spoke with the Chief of Police... Long Story short, the area we want to use is ok but, I have to send her a letter stating what we are doing, when we are doing it and that we will not destroy anything.

Extra info
She also suggested that we get insurance as a club for events at other places because some places wont let you schedule without it. Im going to check with the AMA,I believe they offer a liabilty coverage for rc car clubs cheap.

June 28th COMP#1 BUSSE WOODS
JULY 19th COMP#2 LOCKPORT
AUG 9th COMP#3 BUSSE WOODS

I second that motion. All dates look good to me.

Im all good on dates.... I would hold off on the location for Comp #4... not sure how Lockport will work out and the July 19 date is kind of probationary with the park district. Should post these dates up on the web page

Only thing with leisure Hrs.... they will be holding the comps themselves and will be charging admission that they will be colllecting. I see that as being difficult to host our comps there without paying a pretty decent price.

I am certain that a location for COMP#4 will be found by the AUG 30th date. I think that we just need to lock in the dates.

SCRC SUMMER COMP SERIES FLYERS....
......are now in circulation. I have delivered 100 copies to each of the following locations:

HobbyTown USA Schaumburg
HobbyTown USA St. Charles
RC Hobbies Naperville

I plan on making it to Venture Hobbies in Wheeling with their stack sometime this weekend...probably Friday evening or Saturday. I hope that this "old school" method of advertising our Comp Series has some measure of success in growing the comp participant pool, as well as increasing membership of SCRC.

I know some members have been online and viewing, I just dont think they have anything to add.

We should maybe keep the option of having a 5th date added open. Also, Bob P was asking about hosting an event on his synthetic course, what do you guys think? Maybe make that the location for date 4?

Before I send out an email on it, any objections to having a meeting 11:30/11:45 on the day of the Busse comp to elect positions, discuss insurance/dues, and discuss a general club opperating proceedure (yearly voting etc...)

Bob's place looks good for comp 4 IMO.
A meeting just prior to the Busse comp sounds good too.

When you guys say a meeting before the Busse comp, do you mean a GTG?

No...an actuall club meeting with voting on important topics. The "gtg" happens after the comp

There are some open grassy areas right near the crawl location that provide a few garbage cans.....but the actual areas with a few tables or a pavilion are at the parking area. Near the trail entrance that leads to the crawl area there are a few tables and a water well. Restrooms are also within a very short distance from the parking area. Just north and south (within a mile or 2) there are places to get food.

A few choices to the NORTH include:

Johnnies Beef (TASTY...cash only)
Mitsuwa Plaza (Japanesse Grocery with good takeout sushi)
Jewel Grocery
Subway

A few choices SOUTH include:

McDonalds
Boston Market
Subway
A hotdog/beef/gyros place ...I think it is called SAMMIES
Pizza Hut
Peapod Chinese
Jewel Grocery
7-11

Ok, thats what I figured, but I wanted to make sure. Do you have addresses for the preserves? I used to live in the suburbs (Vernon Hills, Grayslake and Wintrhop Harbor) but I don't remember where these preserves are.

Thanks!
Matt
