YES! On my to do list! My winter project will be a trail ready trailer with a roof top tent. Moab for Easter. All have all my ducks in a row, the wife already asked why don't we have a small trailer for all of the gear we hauled behind the back seats of the JK. |

Just a quick update; I swapped out the scx10 axles and spacers for a set of Wraith axles. While I didn't really want the tires to set out another 1/2 inch, the trade off was well worth it with a huge increase in turning radius! I just noticed that Recon G6 had an event at Jeep Safari Week in Moab this past year and will assume that it will happen again. In the photos of the event I saw a Willy's rollin! It looks like I'll need to set a day aside for the G6 this coming Easter while I'm there! Anyone else plan to attend the Recon G6 in Moab? (with their Willy's) |

The front axle can be located in a wide variety of positions depending on your preference. Last edited by Bitter End; 09-03-2016 at 11:02 PM.

Bitter do you find that your links are on the short side? And losing some articulation? I'm starting a new Willys build and plan to incorporate a Wraith plate. I'm debating shortening the plate by about 3/4" to accommodate longer links. TIA swyped from my M8 with root privileges |

Can I ask, what is the best way to cut into this plastic to detach the hood for instance? I just got a hasbro jeep, would love to try this build, but am unsure the best way to work with the jeep itself. Thanks!

I just returned from another over-the-top trip to Moab and pleased to share that I won the best of show in the Moab Recon G6 show and shine. After speaking with a few of the other participants I think I won over a few to try out the world of 1/6! Thanks for all the effort Parker! Last edited by Bitter End; 09-03-2016 at 10:11 PM. |

I was really impressed on how it handled the rocks this week, even with the off camber stuff I only put her on the lid once. The only issue that I have been having is with the steering. Once I dropped the 4th link and added a drag link the reach on the servo horn (lengthened to get the the steering and drag link geometry parallel) monkeyed up the torque of the servo. I'll need to change the location of the steering servo or add a bell crank. The best upgrade was changing out the SCX axles for Wraith (with the u-joint steering knuckle mod). And this is the current shock set up: less angle and mounted slightly higher. I went with this set up so I didn't have to cut the floor. I don't recall the length, they were an extra set in the bottom of the box. 100 if I had to guess. Last edited by Bitter End; 09-03-2016 at 10:14 PM.

Thank you for answering Cause when I built my 6th Scale Humvee I cut the bed so the shocks go up thru and hide them with a spare tire If I use 2.2'' the spare tire covers the shocks I might use 1.9'' anf they won't hide them as well I'm now building a 6th Scale Jeep Mutt and leaning towards 1.9'' And like the the idea of not cutting the bed So the shocks are not seen or have to be covered Last edited by kgb424; 05-15-2016 at 07:56 PM. |

Update: I removed the 3/8" Delrin motor/trans/steering servo mount (shown in the picture below from the original build mock up) and fashioned a tray out of aluminum, by doing that I was able to lower the entire set up 5/8", which solved my steering servo geometry and undoubtedly will improve the entire center of gravity. While I had it tore down to prade rest, I swapped out the 55 turn motors in favor of a set of 27's and took the Savox steering servo out of service and replaced it with a Hitek 7995. The steering is now very snappy even setting at dead stop. Lastly, I swapped out front shocks for a very smooth Proline set, I can't wait to get it out on the rocks again and check out the improved performance. I've been kicking around the idea of painting this one and building a full roll cage for it. I've always dug the simplicity of this one but.... Any thoughts? |

I'm confused, in post #77, I see a wraith axle in one pic, and 2 scx10 axles in another pic. In answer to your question, simple is good, but a full cage might not be that bad either, and color, I'm partial to camo |
