For the mounting plates I brazed 3/16" brake line so I could tap it Then took a #8 washer drilled out to 3/16" and screwed it with an over sized nut to hold it square and lightly brazed it Makes for a clean and secure fastening. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk |

Great solution on the cage mounting, and the color you picked looks amazing. Very nice!

Managed to spare a half hour today to work on the project. I have yet to experience a thermal shut down but, the orange Willys did run a bit warm at times. I decided to install a fan from rcpcrawlers, those fans move allot of air for sure but, i don't want to fill the entire radiator space. I don't think that much is needed..... hope I'm right. I found smaller fans on eBay, I believe this will be enough. SSD will be releasing in March the spline mod with chubs, knuckles and steering links for the D60 axle. Can't wait, I'll be ordering three sets of these as soon as they are released. I have a pic they sent me but, not sure if it is OK to post. Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

I think that the fan pulling air out would help keep crap from going into the motor. Just a thought.

Started the lights tonight and the fab of the steering wheel. I used this only for the holder, worked out OK http://store.rc4wd.com/Red-LED-Holde...2V_p_2883.html Just waiting on SSD to release the new product to get this to the roller stage. Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

Just wanted to share these lights, they work great, adjustable and cheap. I use an empty oxy bottle and can lite up the darkest corners when working on rc's. Looks like you're going to have to make your own chassis. Would be cool if you could somehow keep the motor. Interested to see what you come up with. You have some fun ahead of you! Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

I do. The motor I hope to keep in place. The bottom pan unscrews and I will be building a aluminum chassis (I have a band saw). I just won this, so it might be a week before I even get to touch it.

Now that I had the steering wheel done wasn't sure how I wanted to mount it to the dash. On Orange I cheated and used L aluminum bracket and JB weld. This time I wanted to make it look as close to the stock setup as possible. It was more work then anticipated, at least I can check it off the list. Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

Whoa nice bracket! That is the way to go and very solid. On one of my Jeeps I used the stock plastic mount (drilled out the center). It works but flexes too much. |
