Alright! Chassis and shocks showed up today.

I installed the Hot Racing aluminum gears in the transmission last night. Tonight I will install the chassis and get the lockers and inner C's installed hopefully.

Hopefully I will have a runner by tomorrow night but I am suspecting that the BTA may slow me down.

I am very anxious to see the BTA setup. There's not much room to work with on the GC3. I've been contemplating one for a while.

I am hoping that the S9551 will aid in opening up so options.

Well it's late but the rig is almost complete. Steering and some wiring are all that's left. I am going to bed but I will post some of my troubles and observations tomorrow.

Oh yeah.....I threw on my BWD Vertex wheels for these pics

I will run down some of my obsevations, comments and hicups from the build last night. I started by removing all the existing parts I would need from the stock Losi, mostly just the lower links and lower rod ends from the shocks.

Lockers
Just as I had ran into before, the screws holding the lockers in were over tight and the top would pop right off on some of them. This happened to one screw on the rear locker and two screws on the front locker. On my last Losi this happened to all 4 screws on one side so I guess my luck is improving. I will still need to have new ring gears sent out. I really hope this is the last MRC I have to buy

Chassis
Installing the chassis was a breeze, everything went together smoothly. I did a little filing on the inside corners of the skid to keep the rod ends from rubbing and that was it. The parts were all machined nicely and the anodizing had a great finish and a very different and cool color.

Axle C’s and M3 Mod
After bolting up my axles I needed to install the Hot Racing inner C’s. I had to grind these down on both sides of the ears to work with the Felenfest knuckles and the Losi LCC V3 CVD’s. I then drilled and tapped the C’s for 3mm hardware. I still need to cut down some M3 pan head screws to finish that up.

Shock Install
Installing the shocks went pretty smoothly. The aluminum mounts that were sent to me needed to be drilled out to 3mm so that they would fit nicely in the shock mount holes. There is plenty of wall thickness on these pieces for me to not have to worry about it. I just grabbed a .125” drill bit and opened the holes up. Installed them with a pan head 3mm screw and the top side was done. For the lower end of the shock I just removed the rod end that came on the shocks and threw on the rod ends from the stock Losi shocks. Everything bolted right up and cycled smoothly with the firmer green springs in the rear and the lime springs up front. I need to fill the shocks with some 30wt oil still.

I had the same problem with the Lockers. All 4 screw heads popped off so I had to replace the piece.

Default Ride is lookin good!

in regards to the lockers and that little plastic piece darn near welded on by the four tiny screws, when i did my rear i was only able to back out 3 screws and the fourth backed out maybe about half thread, after i installed the metal LOSI Locker piece to that side i simple applied a few drops of locktite to bond the plastic piece after i slid it back under the 4th semi un-screwed screw to the metal locker waited until it dried and finished up the pumpkin. Was this a good way to go or should i have purchased a new LOSI ring set?

Sorry if i post jacked i just needed to ask while we were on the subject.

I touched the screw heads with a hot soldering iron for a few seconds and used a VERY good fitting screwdriver and all the screws came right out.

Mine were to the point where I was barely able to apply any force before they just popped right off. I don't think there was any way to remove those screws without them breaking. I have to agree though, a good fitting screwdriver is a MUST.

Sick Build Josh! Very informative as usual.

Do you know of any stateside shops of vendors that sell the Felsenfest knuckles? That 30 euro's plus shipping is a kick in the pants!!
