That is a pretty good option. I would rather do that than move that damn ESC and rats nest that it creates.

I'm running the same battery on the front links. She climbs with the best of them. Last time Austin supposedly had a broken tranny gear but I think he was affraid.

I noticed your servo leads are pretty short. You going to be able to mount your rx lower? I don't think it's going to be hindering anything mounted where as is, just wordering? It's crazy how the two extra wires plus the sensor wires make such a mess

Hey Hardley you know they make these things called zip ties that you could use to help clean up that rats nest of wires.
Or, you could use massive amounts of peanut butter to stick the wires to the chassis

So where would you guys like to put the battery on the GC3?
Front links?
Rear links?
Chassis?
????
What size battery would you like to see made?

The MaxAmps 800mah or their smaller packs are great. Also the Losi 600mah work awesome too. I don't really see a problem w/ the way Josh has his mounted now. I have the same battery and some times use it in the exact location on my DarkSoul. But I prefer the Losi 600's

I am going to flip the trans tonight, try and reposition the battery and do a little wiring clean up. I also picked up a Castle BEC from the LHS tonight.

I'll have a lathe freed up here in a couple days. Not having a Losi on hand,I could hash the dimensions out with Hurley. I could turn a few sets down if you guys wanna send your shafts to me.

Lower Link / Skid Plate Mod

Today I was talking to Jason about the lower link and skid plate interference that many people have (myself included). Like everyone else I just filed the edges of the skid and called it good. However that is hardly any fun

The idea was to go to flanged balls and use a pin to retain the lower links with a spacer between the two rod ends. Easy enough.

So tonight after work I stopped at the LHS and picked up a couple Traxxas 39mm hinge pins. Next I stopped at the auto parts store and grabbed a pack of emery cloth. I chucked the pins up in the drill press and sanded them down.

IMPORTANT! You need to leave the raised lip on ONE side of the hinge pin.

After I got the pin turned down to just under 3mm I slid it through the skid and measured what I would need for a spacer. For the mean time I am just using a few washers.

Leaving the pin at its full original diameter at one end means you only need an E-clip on one side

Now your lower links will never bind, and you have a cleaner side profile

Hardley,
That's pretty much what I was talking about except without the e-clip. I'm guessing it wont take long for that to come off??
I hope to have mine done today as well and will post up pics
Also your extra skid is ready to ship today.

I didn't plan on using e-clips at first like we talked about. I was going to set screw retain the pin. However that gap was smaller than I remembered. This is still cleaner than screws and it's different

In all reality the clips Rent even needed. You have to tap the pins in pretty good. There is no concern of anything falling out.

The one thing that keeping the e-clips does though is keep the side plates held together better. All the bracing in the chassis helps but you could still get a little deflection at the bottom if you pulled.

Last night I was also able to reconfigure my rig to package everything nicely.

I flipped the trans, swapped the Mongoose to under the front cross brace, tucked the RX right inside the chassis infront of the trans and was able to get the battery to the rear links.

I still need to get the BEC installed and get some 3s MaxAmps 800's on the way

It'll be nice if Futaba had a micro receiver, to help clean up the wiring a bit. Where's some finished pic's?
