I'm saying he should open his front diff if he wants more off-power steering.

All the items are on their website. Excited about a lot of their items, the aluminum steering servo mount in particukar. Stock has a lot of flex.

Your reading it wrong. Just the upper link mount, not the whole housing.

My shopping list:

Definite - Aluminum shocks
Definite - Aluminum servo mount
Maybe - Aluminum shock towers
Maybe - Aluminum upper link mounts
Maybe - Light bar (depends on mounting location and likelihood of damage)

and for those that are still having ring an pinion problems in the front and rear diff... I may have a solution. im going to use the old paint trick and different thickness "gasket" to see what works on the ring side and im going to use different shim s on the pinion side to see what gets the best contact. tonight.

Stiffer springs? You put a full metal cage on yours or made it heavier? Mine spring collars are only a few turns in from the top to give me the desired ride height witch Is about as perfect as it gets imo. Also what kind of ring and pinion issues are you having?? I haven't noticed anything wrong in my set up but maybe I am overlooking something.

I have a lot of off power steering in the front and its caused by the way the shocks are so laid down. a slightly stiffer spring would allow it to be more controllable on the track.

and my front ring and pinion decided it wanted to not have teeth anymore at the track this past Saturday. maybe because I didn't replace it last time and just shimmed it to get by. horizon, losi and fast serve have it on back order till the end of November..... so I have an extra on hand and want to see what kind of contact we are getting on the ring and pinion. and yes im still only running mine on 2s. so I don't see what the issue should be. I put green seal bocas on the pinion in the front and rear... no slop there.

I tore all of the electronics out and cleaned it. and as I turn the center shaft I don't hear any crunching. but when putting power through it.. it doesn't move lol. teeth are probably rounded off.

Move the rear shocks further out. That will stiffen the rear suspension without needing to replace the springs.

that lowers ride height. and stiffens the rear. im looking to stiffen the front.

Maybe Losi's new alloy shock tower will have more upper mounting positions.

I'm very interested in what you find with the front ring / pinion mesh. This is all dejavew for me.. It was flexible plastics in the front end of my Axial Yeti XL. The plastic flexed under power causing improper mesh. This caused premature wear on the ring and pinion resulting in the failure you described. I installed a Dhawk aluminum front bulkhead "gearbox" and it fixed the problem. I wish Losi would at the very least offer a stiffer plastic front gearbox and pinion bearing plate for the rear axle.. Doubt it will happen though.

an alum rear third member and front gearbox would be my first buy if they made it. its not gonna happen though.

when I tore the front end apart yesterday... the holy god himself couldn't save that pinion. the bearings were fine... but the plastic flexes too much... I bet if they came out with straight cut hardened gears, none of us would have this problem.. the fact that they are helical cut causes the pinions to get pulled into the ring gear under forward acceleration... but also causes the pinion to get cockeyed when it happens. im half tempted... to just stock up on bearings and ring and pinions.

this is no understatement.. its my favorite truck to race with. the scte 3.0 is nice, but id still pick the Baja rey over it.

I agree.. There is something truly special about this truck! I wish it would get aftermarket support like the SCTE!

Is your front diff filled with silicone oil? I'm curious if that has any effect on it causing it to flex more than a greased filled one. I have not had a single issue with my ring and pinion in relation to yours. Even after loosing bearings and the balls ground on the ring and pinion (stoped almost immediately after I heard grinding) I put everything back with new bearings and is still taking a pounding. I wouldn't categorize this problem under "all of us", sounds like a personal problem. Again my rear end/ front end/ trans have all held up great other than loosing a few of the stock bearings but nothing else, no gear mesh problems, no plastic flexing creating other problems, no shims...
