The only thing I dislike about the 2 speed is how low it sits. I will have to modify the battery tray, but I am going to TRY and design a 10mm riser just to give it a bit more clearance.
Yeah that's the only thing I don't like about it, it's really low. Still for what it is I really like it! I like the idea of the clearance of the dual motors but they are so slow from what I'm seeing.

I picked up a 1700mah 3s Lipo today and installed the Hobbywing 1625 esc, I think I found my perfect combination, wow what a blast, I was doing donuts on the snowy driveway in high gear and low gear has lots of torque and still has some wheel speed.

Is the 2 speed plastic gear as well? Anyone have pics of the internals?

Yes plastic gears, I didn't tear it down yet, I ran the crap out of it today on 3s and so far it's doing great, I haven't heard of any issues with the 2 spd trans as of yet and I've been doing a lot of research.

Ok I'm calling this done for now and am just going to run it, I've ran about 5 3s packs through it yesterday and today with no issues. Truck is stock except for homemade steering link, Hobbywing 1625 ESC, metal driveshafts, 2 spd tranny, hacked Flysky radio, and front wheel weights. Still running stock servo. This thing has been a lot of fun to tinker with and run. Started building the C14 today it will have a bunch of upgrades on it, I'm just experimenting to see what is needed and not needed as far as upgrades go.

It can run up to 8 channels, there's a thread in electronics section by Losikid, you can either do it yourself or you can buy a pre hacked one online. It can do a lot of different things, control a winch, lights, four wheel steer, crab, dig etc. It's a hell of a radio when hacked, I got two of them. Bought one used and hacked my other one myself. I've done about 6 of them for friends.

You can do it to the older gt3b or gt3c, or you can get the gt3b or gt3c hacked version on eBay for around $70 I believe. I have been using these radios since 2010 or around there.

What do you think of the new C34? I would post on the other thread but I think it's dead.

I've seen it and I'm sure with the same mods I've done to mine it will be fun, I doubt out of the box it's any good though. I'll pick one up eventually, I've been too busy taking care of my dad's estate after he passed to do anything RC related in over a month and probably be a good 3 months before I can even think about getting time.

Both of these trucks have been sitting on the shelf for almost two years, got them down and dusted them off, checked things over and took em out in the dusting of snow we got yesterday. I forgot how much fun these things are. Pretty nice that you can buy the kit version with all metal upgrades now, mine were built up from the plastic junk they started from. I didn't get any pics of the truggy version in the snow, was having too much fun.

I just read this whole thread!
Great job on both and good to see them still going strong.
I’m building mine up now and trying to decide between 1060 and 1625 escs.

1625 fits better, doesn't have a drag brake but with the 2 speed transmission you don't need it. In low gear it'll hold itself on a hill. These things are a blast if you don't mind tinkering a bit to get things just right. They've come a long way in their quality since I got my first two, fit and finish is much better on the newer stuff.

Good to hear. My starting point is a C24-1.
I have a 1060 on hand, but may order the 1625 since I’m waiting on my 2 speed anyway.
