Awesome job on the cab cuts

The cutter I have is basically the same, just a few years older. Works great

Instead of going over the cut in the styrene so many times, try just doing 1 cut to score it, then just bend and snap.
Saves a hell of a lot of time and effort, and since you're only doing 1 cut, less chance of a slip. End up with a neater edge too.

Try it on a scrap piece, works a treat.

Default Szczerba's Tow Rig

Thanks guys.

On cutting the styrene I only have to make about 9-10 firm passes and the piece is cut clean. I tried just scoring a couple times but one or two passes of scoring wasnt enough and I would end up have to score it more. I got in a rhythm after a few pieces and knocked em out quick.

Got all the longer beef tubes installed.
Also, drilled holes in the chassis for "shock" mounts. Ill have to grind some of the threads off the "shafts" so they ride smooth against the frame hole. The 6/32" shafts are 2" long screws with the heads cut off. Ride height can be adjusted by tightening down or loosing on 6/32" nut.
Used an bigger bit for frame hole. One pair of Jeepindoug crawler cup springs per "shock" from Crawler Innovations helps with this setup too.

Cab is still in separate pieces. I have all the glues and adhesives but I don't know what I wanna do for for the doors. I still need to cut the windows out at least. I was thinking of cutting another piece of diamond plate styrene out to give the doors a panel look. And even another panel for the extended cab part. Just think it would give the cab a little more definition.

This is my first kinda "scratch" built styrene project. Go easy!

Mocked it up to see how everything fits.

Looks like this roof panels will need to be recut. Don't work out.

Very nice. Good luck. That's going to look really good when done. Better you than me trying to glue it together. I would make such a mess trying to glue and clamp it all together.

I have 1/4" styrene square tubing that will be glued to one panel then the the other panel will get glued to that. I have various other rectangle and square tubing, as well as. Thick CA with accelerant to hold the plastic-weld joints while they cure and shoe-goo to back the joints on the inside.

Turning out nice. I'm using some 1/4" angle in all my joints. I know how you screwed up the roof too I did the same thing on the hemtt. I just cut a piece as wide as the rise on that angle not thinking that it would need to be longer. Hardest part is planning how to work it all together where you have access to everything. I'm making the roof on mine removable. Again, rigs coming along great.

It should be an easy fix. Recut the top side pieces and I'll probably have to recut the windshield frame anyways. It needs to be a little taller and the bottom needs to come down almost 3/4". You can see in the picture where I put a strip below the windshield frame to cover the gap.

Thanks. I was hoping to move faster on this build but this cab is going to take some time. I will need to make upperlink mounts for the axles and get the trans mount in place.

Creeping along with styrene fab.

Redid the upper roof section. Cut the back window out. And made door armor. Also made a new windshield piece with a longer skirt.

Grill material purchased.

Thanks. I just made two copies of the "doors" to lay over the door area to give it some definition. Thinking about making a similar piece for the extended cab area.

I am ready to start gluing this thing together and make some progress.

Thanks, this cab is turning out to be a beast of a job. I think I am almost to the point of being able to start gluing it together.

I still need to make rear axle upper links but the flexing motion is an upward arc due to the lower fixed arms. I am trying to figure out in my head how to control axle wrap and side to side motion. I thought about a simple panhard for the side to side and maybe a shock with a firm spring for the upper link? I don't think a traditional 3rd upper link will work but I need to mock it up and see.

Adding the panels for the doors really made it look good. Gave it depth. Nice work.
