Just a quick update on my end, my Brood Racing 2600KV sensored motor with Castle MMX combo has been doing extremely well. Great low speed control with great wheel speed to boot, have been runing a 10t pinion and 2S battery. Haven't tried any speed runs on 3S though just yet, mainly trail running/crawling. With my setup I don't see the need for a 2 speed IMO.

Sure, I won't deny that correlation, but I doubt anyone could tease it out of the occurrences of failures in both of these these trucks due to cost cutting, poor design, assembly, and quality control. Sounds more like sour grapes.

And it depends on one's perspective on risk. What is the chance that a novice (in current RC electronics) like myself could have walked in to the LHS and come out with a battery/motor/esc/pinion/spur combo with versatility comparable to that provided by the Axial 2-speed and the RTR motor? The LHS is eager to take my money, but won't give it back.

I still run the plastic spur in my Bombers and Yeti without a problem.
