My LHS rep suggested to just bolt up my old stock servo and it will hold in place and save my from spending more $ till later on a new radio and so on. Sounds like a great idea to me!

Just a FYI , if you are going to use a micro servo, you can install it under the servo rail (with a little grinding off the raised hump) and have a lot more room for wiring and such, plus no interior contact.

hey jeepfixer what micro servo are you using?

has anyone had any problems with the shift rod spinning in the transmission? happens to me every once it a while and i have to keep on adjusting it back so i can shift into first again.

I use a hitec HS65MG with a servo saver.

U can get away without grinding the bump off if u use a couple of spacers

Came up with the same idea about month ago. Posted it up on "rckcrwlr's Wraith 2 Banger" thread in the vendors section under rc4wd.

As for the shift rail spinning use a little blue loctite on it to stop it from spinning

The Wraith has a Tekin 13.5 brushless, 87T spur (48P), 23T pinion and is on 3S, so far the only thing i didn't like is that the shifting servo heats up when going into 1st gear, not so in 2nd gear. I need to do more testing on this, already ordered a servo saver and i'll see if that works
Does the motor get warm? seems like you could gear up?

Yeah, I am curious. I plan on using one in my ulrta4 ttc brushless build. Hopefully it can take some serious abuse.

Talking Re: AX2 2 Speed Transmission for Axial Wraith & SCX10/Honcho

Hi Guys
I have installed the 2 speed transmission and a Novak Balistik brushless combo (wraith edition) in my Wraith. I now have a whole new experiance, actually the difference is day and night. I chose to make the 2 speed a manual change, I created a slide selection wilh a locking pin to ensure no gear change during an accident. I want low gear for crawling and hi gear for racing around like a lunitic the rest of the time. year what fun!
Unfortunately I cannot join most of you in a 4x4 challange as I live in South Africs, but not to worry I do have buddies here that think this is better that a full size 4x4, if not better it is much cheeper.

I swapped out the stock spur for a Robinson Racing 48 pitch unit since my trans came without a setscrew for the included 32 pitch pinion. Seems to bolt up just fine

Are those steel gears and how as this trans held up so far against big power of a brushless motor

I'm running a very heavy (9lbs+) tube/scx10/2.2. It is using the"stock" rc4wd pinion/spur combo. I'm running a Novak 13.5 ballistic s.c. Motor and matched esc. I've been practically drag racing this thing for weeks. I haven't had any issue with the shifting, or operation of the Tranny itself. I bound up my front right tire in a first gear run (half throttle) the output shaft broke at the snap ring collar behind the case. Take it for what you want, but thus far, I still would rate it at a solid "A.." for ease of instillation, cost and overall quality/durability..

Why have a civilization anymore, if we are no longer interested in being civilized??

Sounds like it's a pretty good transmission. Does rc4wd sell replacement parts for this trans.

I had a chance today to test mine out in an SCX10 trail rig with a 35T/3S. Shifts butter-smooth and 1st gear is really nice for steep downhilling, no drag brake needed. Loads of torque for super slow inching your way up and over the rough stuff. 2nd gear has a decent amount of getup and go also. I'd have to say it's probably one of the best upgrades for an SCX10, and it sure is nice to have the option to drop 'er in low when you need to .
