Curious ..... so if anything you get scale points for falls out then you lose the points? Like say a cooler in the back comes unglued or strap breaks and the cooler falls on course. (just an example)

If you pick it up and put it back on the vehicle does that get you a touch penalty and re position?

I've been asked this many times. My response is always to make sure Scale items are securely fastened in your vehicle. Taking a tumble and something falling out isn't going to take your scale points away, but if items are just sitting loose in your vehicle and the event Marshall or course judge feels that you are doing it purposefully or it happens multiple times then points can be taken away.

i think i know the answers to this but i wanna know for sure.

if i make a roofrack with a lightbar incorporated in the design, do i get points for them both?

also... there isnt really a definition on what makes a roofrack a roofrack. is what i have pictured cool? (imagine it sitting off the roof a bit) or should i add some crossbraces to it to make it a bit more racky.

Seems like a contradiction. If you award scale points for added items and these items leave the vehicle while on course, you should either lose those scale points or take a touch for returning them to the vehicle.

A judge could be accused of favoritism if he/she arbitrarily enforced this "maybe" rule.

Question came up in another thread, does the .060 min thickness for styrene custom hardbodies only apply when they are vacuum formed?

Weekend has come and gone.

Official ruling is it's a penalty if you touch the OB marker just like it's written. It's really up to the course designers to use OB markers properly.

Hand made styrene that's glued together can be thinner than .060

Vacuum formed or 3D printed has to be .060 or thicker.

ok.

but for "off the track"?
if a vehicle rollover beyond the ob without touch?

is true what you say before:
Quote:
Once you touch the ground in the out of bounds area it would be a penalty.
or the driver get arround the OB with no penalty?

like this:

thanks for answers.

The new 3D printing technologies, today allow the creation of metal pieces.

In the case of metal printed bumper, or other accessories, must be paid as rules ?

Material Data Sheet

Example :

If you hit the OB line, it is a penalty. If you bounce over it and land on the other side without touching the OB line, it is not a penalty. If the ON line is used correctly by the course designer, you will have to touch the OB line to get back on course.

In the video I saw the OB ribbon move, so it's a penalty.

I don't know. As of right now, I'm not sure I'd give metal points for anything 3D printed. I guess we have something new to talk about in committee.

Are you kidding? You'd give metal points for this that you can buy for $12 and weighs nothing...

...but won't give metal points for the above posted 3D bumper which is absolutely scale and likely weighs a ton?

What's the intent of the rule here? I understand the idea that metal weighs more than plastic and points should be credited for the extra weight, but we're talking a metal to metal comparison.

Let's not quash innovation.

I said "as of right now" since I don't know enough about 3D printing in metal to know if it is actually metal and what it weighs. I believe I also said we'd talk about it, so perhaps you can chill out 😳

No need to tell me to chill out. I'm just providing you with some ammunition when you go talk with all your other good ole boys. The poster has already supplied the metal content of that bumper... 60% stainless steel 40% bronze. Sure looks like metal to me...all 100% of it.

You know what you can cram the good old boys comment up your ---
You have no idea the battles fought in the rules committee, the friend ships strained over the rules just so you can be a dick. Maybe like he said you should chill and let us figure it out. There are far more important items at the moment, I will sugest we add it to the agenda for discussion for next years rule set.

I've got 2 rock lights up front and 2 headlights. No tail lights. Do I get any functional scale points?

No, must have operating headlights and tail lights to get points.
