well i guess i'll make this my build thread since its already up.

its gonna be a 2.2 legal pimp cane.
mamba max esc
integy 55t's
spektrum DX3
rear dig setup with a hitec hs81
Tower Pro MG945
RC4wd 2:1 reductions
9 tooth
hpi bug body
Jp small knuckles
Jp small C axle tubes
Hand Bros. BTA kit
bearings
aluminum spools
6 cell nimhs
axial BL's
losi claws
+
custom pedes
2.2 jordans

again this is my first build/ first RC anything so i knew absolutely nothing before this forum!

when i cut the chassis down to the right WB and got the tires and wheels mocked up, i didnt like how boxy it was. 12 1/2" WB and 12 1/2" wide looks funny.

so i bought some new 3274's and modified them to get my width way down.

cleaned them up and grinded the chrome off and the little lip down from the ID of the cut off bead, but not all the way so it would pop into the little groove in the wheel where the wheel center is made on. helps to get the bead straight with the wheel

glued the bead with super thin CA and then grinded the excess wheel off the outside with an air angle grinder. and glued again.

as for the outside of the wheel, just ordered som delrin rock rings from TCS to glue on

im using the stock clod hexes so i found i could lose a little more by grinding the extra lip off of one side of the hex. i put the flush side against the wheel. this also gets the FULL hex into the wheel

the hex socket part inside the pede wheels doesnt look very strong so since i have all this JB Weld laying around, i mixed up some JB Stick and beefed up the hex

now with the pede wheel untouched compared to the new wheel and the modified hex, here is the difference sitting on the outer axle shafts

major difference between the axials that i was gonna use and these. both sitting on outer axle shafts. Figured i lost about 1 3/4" of width like this

i will probably cut some of the threads off that sticks out past the nut on the outer axle later.

now i know many of you want to see more detail of how i did the axle housing shaving in the first of the post. well i am gonna finish all my wheels today and since i took off tomorrow i will do the other housing and post up pics and how-toooo's

picked up some craft store Poly Pellets like kerrywittig on here found to run in the tires instead of foam. they are pretty small so i went down to a 3/32" drill bit and drilled 4 holes in the wheels, from what i've gathered most people use 2-1/8" holes, so i oughta be about right without the pellets falling out.

and you can see the JP small knuckles and tubes in those last pics.

they showed up in the mailbox today after i went into town to the post office to get them, and the package wasnt there!

normally they leave them at my doorstep, this time it was in the mailbox, and i didnt look in there till i got back

i was very impressed with the quality of the machine work and even the small hardware. the brass bushings, plastic bushings, and screws were nice and fit perfect. i have to get some shorter screws to mount the tubes to the cases since the new tubes are threaded, so NO NUTS!

AND NOW...onto the Clod Case Shaving!

First thing is to completely disassemble the axles down to the bare cases.

The first one i did I kinda eyeballed where to cut. i drew some lines on this one so you can see.

but before cutting, i found it best to get these pieces outta the way. this is a very common mod to clod cases. but we gonna take it a big step farther

first cut i made is one parallel to the ground (as it would be with the rig RTR)
cut and stop at the other line running from front to back of the case
