Great in info, I've been thinking about doing the 2-speed conversion on one of my rigs, that I'll be using for towing.

Assembly Tip:

After putting the two halves of the gearbox casing together, tighten the screws until they are just barely flush with the casing, then install the slipper clutch and tighten the spring all the way. Then tighten each screw holding the gearbox casing together a bit at a time, checking for free movement of the top shaft; if binding is felt, back off a little and move to the next screw. After this is complete, readjust the slipper clutch to a reasonable setting.

For reasons I don't understand, having the slipper clutch as tight as possible amplified the binding I felt after initially assembling the gearbox, hence my recommendation above.

Another tip: Before assembling the gearbox, take a small file and smooth-off the edges of the square hole in the middle of the shift puck. Those edges are slightly sharp from the factory, and they tend to grab onto the surface of the output shaft and keep the shift puck from sliding properly, even if everything is greased properly. You can also polish the square portion of the output shaft to make it smoother, but this is less important than smoothing the edges of the square hole in the shift puck.
