Vaterra HD Pinion Gears & HD Driveshafts Info

I know the feeling ive got 2.2 tsl iroks on my ascender and a 5700kv motor, its only a matter of time until my gears grenade.

Maybe a slower motor would be better choice anyway, even with stronger gears. What are you doing with your ascender?

I haven't blown my pinion yet but i know it's coming.

I Barry my rc's in mud, and i do mean Barry. I've had then so deep in mud puddles all you can see is the top 1/2" of the roof. Im lucky if i get 2 runs out of a brushed motor so now i run the side winder 3 with the 4 pole brushless. at $12 a set the pinion are a steal compared to buying a half a dozen brushed motors to get me through a 14 day shift

Try RPP or Amain. They have good shipping costs, but to the UK can take a couple of weeks sometimes unless you ask for express delivery.

It would be nice to have the upgrades in the kit.
That's one of the reasons I'm holding off a little longer. I'm been doing this hobby for 26 years and more times than not there's always early production issues with parts that needs fixing. That being said ,I have a really nice Clodbuster body with the Chevy stuff on it, not the stupid 4x4x4 . And I need everything else to go under it. When the Ascender came out, I was like "Cool, an adjustable frame to fit the Clod body. But my second thought was could it handle some power?! The option for a strong 2-speed is a plus. But i run 3s or 4s on all my crawlers except my trailfinder and that's brushless. So, maybe I'll wait for the upgrades to be in the kit or run the Dingo platform.

I've got almost 3 hours so far on the stock gears running a 55T on 4s. I will be ordering the HD gears shortly.

I received my HD driveshafts yesterday and HD pinions today. I have only installed the driveshafts so far but I can say they are a huge improvement over the stockers. The splines are nice and wide and they telescope smoother than the stock ones, they should hold up at least as well as the Axial WB HD shafts. These are definitely the center driveshafts the truck should have came with in the first place.

HD pinions should be installed tomorrow and the truck will be ready to go.
