I printed the diff cover this evening and mounted it for testing.

All that's included with the axles makes them a very good value.

the sway bar would sell like hot cakes it was needed from the start im amazed it hasn't been sold as a kit before. im loving the currie axle design for the ascender but would it work better if the rear link mounts had holes for the stock location for people that cant make ther own links and also higher up too for the builders it might keep every body happy just an idea

You may have answered this, but what are the two holes for in the top center of the axle for? Could they be used for custom upper link mounts?

^^^ do you mean two mounting locations in one bracket? Example: stock height, and another set of holes approx. 2.5 mm higher? It sounds like there are limitations we are not aware of, which is cool either way... It's a beautiful axle, and peeping the front in the picture looks even sexier.

As a side question to Harley: How well do you think that material, or any other material used as 3D printed diff covers would hold up to Rock rash? I know you're just proto-typing there, but I'm curious how viable that material is for minimal stress parts like that.

Cheers

That's the first thought I had when I saw those (custom truss )

When you say center, do you mean on each side of the axle tubes? Those are put there for something like an optional truss in the future, so yes they could Ben used for something like a custom upper link mount. If I was going to do that I would mount to those two positions and also capture the built in upper link mounts for strength. I don't think that would be a VP part but I could totally see custom builders or smaller vendors doing something like that with what is available.

Edit: when I say not a VP part I mean that the idea for our optional truss would be more about axle rigidity and/or style rather than adding extra link points.

Personally I wouldn't want to run a material like that on a diff cover, although with a RockJock style axle the diff cover does not take the pounding like a traditional axle does.

I love 3D printing, however I don't like the use of it in high stress areas.

I think I know a guy that could take that project on.

These had better be available for sale soon, or I'm gonna have to get a set of Bomber style F9s, or the SCX10 II axles.

We design these parts to have minimal mass. The less bulky a part is, the more scale it will generally be. That's our main concern, scale looks.

Just drill and tap the housing and let the scale bolts pass through the cover into the housing.
