Default Future Options from Vanquish

Not sure of any details or release dates, but it's nice to finally see some more options for the Ascender. I got these photos from Faceboook.

On the possibility of being stupid, I've not long had one Vaterra's own CVD's & New Aluminium diff covers?

I had a 7 paragraph, prescription medication fueled, diatribe all typed up and then though better of it. So, I will just say this: I am very pleased that the big name vendors in the crawler world are finally supporting the Ascender and I will likely buy some of these new products but, what took so long?

Is it just me or are the axle housings in the rendering NOT stock Ascender axles? The front cover is tilted back like the Curries and the C-hubs are not bolted on? Also the detail around the center section is much more realistic than the stock axles.

According to the Ripper Machine facebook page, they are a complete machined aluminum axle housing that uses Ascender internals.

I'll dare say the stock Ascender axles are better looking. I don't like the canted pumpkin cover on stock looking rigs. But I am interested to see if they made any improvements. I wonder if they moved the pinion up to combat torque twist. If they did these will be killer. If not I'll pass.

Can't do that without a gear change. You can rotate it around the center line of the ring gear, but you can't just move it up. That requires a new tooth profile.

Right, but rotating the pinion location will change direction of the torque twist force. That would, effectively, reduce torque twist.

I respectfully disagree. The torque isn't coming from the pinion, the pinion is being acted upon. You can rotate the pinion around all you want to and it won't affect torque twist. That's a function of the suspension geometry's ability to deal with it, and how much torque you make.

All you get with rotated pinions is more clearance from the rocks, worse driveshaft angles at full suspension compression and poor driveshaft joint velocity.

Rotating the location of the pinion around the ring gear will change the direction of the torque twist. It won't change the amount of torque twist. That's easy enough to test yourself.

After giving a quick thought about this I don't think it's feasible to move the pinion far enough to have any substantial effect on the direction of the torque twist though.

That was one of the most civil discussions/debates I've readon this forum, while informative. Way to go guys, we need more of that around here.

It's great to see options for Ascender axle housings, but I too prefer stock center section and cover style and seem to get caught on less stuff imo. Hope they move the upper link mounts up about 1/4" and back on the rear axle (forward on the front axle) to help geometry and TT.

These look awesome!!! It would be nice if they made a Delrin option, or something super slick, but I'm not complaining.

I just got some ascender axles for a build myself knowing vp is coming out with some new stuff. I already got two sets of scx2 axles figured I'd give these a shot.

Another new Vanquish Ascender product: driveshaft adapters.

Vanquish Products Ascender Driveshaft Adapter

Not a revolutionary product but the Vanquish ones should be more widely available than other versions.
