Ah, fun. When you get a chance and you want to try a silicone mold, check out Smooth-On. They make it stupid easy if your new to it. Plus they offer a ton of resins and rubbers to make your part out of. There's a few other great brands but for the beginner Smooth-On is by far the easiest with 1:1 ratios.

Now, let the suspense continue!

Filled the negative mold with bondo to make my buck.

I only have one weave of carbon fiber so I just did two layers of it. Next time I will get some tight weave glass to do first.

It's drying now, we'll see if it's worth using at all.

I need to sand it still, this is just rough cut on the bandsaw. Better than I expected for my first shot.

Lacks a little definition, but a big improvement over the cartoon light stock piece.

Definitely not nearly as defined as the stock hood. The tight weaved cloth first layer would really have helped that. I have a better idea what I would need for next time. I am just happy to have the lights gone!

I'll be throwing a wrap on there soon and that should help hide any imperfections.

I think your hood is freaking awesome man!! Wish I had the materials to make molds like that. How much would a hood like that cost? Are you going to produce any more of them? WANTWANTWANT!!!!!

The materials to do this were not very expensive and very easy to find. Anyone could do this for less than $40. I will not be making multiples of these.

Looking good...! Any ideas on how to improve the steering. I know I'm used to the 50 degrees of steering on my crawler. So this is a big shock.
Like to see what you come up with..

I don't know that I see any simple fixes. I don't want to simply shave on that slider for fear of weakening it. Like I said in my video, I am really hoping for an improved product to come from Vanquish. I'll be sure to talk to them about that area and hope to bounce around some solid ideas. I am sure that they can come up with something we will all NEED

I definitely want to keep playing around with this stuff though.

The skin design has been finalized!

I also drove the rig today finally. It is a blast in the rough stuff! I can't wait to get it out to our local trail system and see how it stacks up.

It's a pretty simple setup. Just assign channel 3 or 4 to PaS2 and set your EPA's.

I'll do a video if need be.
