| Harley's Twin Hammers My truck arrived today! After I finally got home I started tearing this thing down. I wanted to swap out the stock electronics and get a closer look at all the in's and out's of the new rig. So the first part of this thread is almost completely a de-build thread. I plan to change quite a bit of this truck right away. |

I'll work backwards on the truck. First off, the feel of the rig is great. All the parts seem to fit well with very little if any play. The quality feels rigid where it should and flexy where it will help durability. The front A-arms have a nice high clearance design. The bottom of the A-arm is almost at the center of the knuckle. The stock battery is TINY However it does appear I can wedge my 2200 3s packs in there just barely. |

The stock electronics are coming out right away. I did not end up using the 9157 for shifting and instead relocated to stock steering servo with a simple bracket. More on that later. The inboard front suspension is killer. Feels nice and smooth too. Really looking forward to tweaking with this setup. With the quality of this car to this point, I was disappointed to see these crappy plastic hexes. Very cool trailing arms, however I wish they would have lowered the shock mounting point below the centerline of the rod ends like a real trailing arm so that it would keep the arms in place. Right now they rock back and forth which is just an annoying design trait to me. |

I ripped the cage off next and started taking the electronics out. First up I took out the stock radio gear and sold it off Then the steering servo. I am putting in a Futaba BLS152 brushless servo. Once I took the stock servo out I noticed this design on the stock servo horn. This may be common somewhere else but I have never seen it before. A metal insert goes into the horn with larger splines to increase engagement of the plastic. I will still swap this horn out at some point but right now I am going to see how this design holds up. The stock steering rack is not my favorite, it is a little sloppy, not terrible though. I honestly see this as a possible weak point down the road when we really start bashing these rigs and pushing way past the stock limits. Out of the box, I don't see any big issues with it though. |

I was looking at the spare tire and not really feeling it. Can the chassis be cut like my crappy hack pic or is the spare used to hide the battery? Thanks... |

Relocating the stock steering servo to the shift servo location wasn't too difficult. I made this simple bracket out of a stock Axial servo plate, I'm sure most of you have a bunch of these sitting around like I do! I drilled a few extra holes to mount the plate (I'll try and make a PDF template for people to do this unless someone comes out with one soon). I had to counter sink one screw so that when I screwed it into the existing transmission mount it didn't interfere with the servo. Then I just threw the servo up there and mounted it with the two lower hole of the mounts. If you have some Axial servo posts for a full size servo you could replace those too, I don't see a big need for that right away. |

However, I do not see any easy modifications to do that. The tubes on this frame are MUCH slimmer than we see on the Axial stuff, adding a new hole is not going to be a good idea. For now I don't see many solid options. | |

Good Idea going full size on the shift servo, glad to know there is enough room under the body. That will definetly be my first mod when I swap out the stock electronics about 5mins after it comes out of the box. You gonna lock the front or try the 500k oil? |

The goofy servo horn is the same as stock on the mrc pro.
