I'm wondering whether the motor and planetary gearbox are indeed smaller than a small outrunner...

I'd drop to a mamba 4200, or a parkflyer 3200 or so, the 8k will not have the starting torque.

unless that is an 8.0 wind, not an 8.0kv

I have found the chino mod to be the best with the tightening of the leaf spring eyelet to limit slop to be a better solution long term.
I have looked at others and did notice what you said but i like to see for myself. this truck will be pretty light so it just might work

Some advise on the brushless. 8000kv will probably shred that planetary? You never know.
Fiago makes a planetary just for high power brushless motors.

Way to go, using a small brushless. Saves alot of room.
I've tested it on the table and so far so good. if it blows no big deal i'll try something else. that's what experimenting is for

No it's an 8.0Kv and i know i'll be on the short side on torque but i guesstimated the planetary to be over 150:1 so i'll need the rpm. if it doesn't work i'll try something else.

Thanks a bunch. i'll definatly keep everyone posted in the outsome of the tranny. if it wirks it'll be the ticket for the most compact drivetrain.

Thanks guys! Sorry I don't have any progress to report. I put it on hold for a bit to get some of my honeydo list done

Yes i did. it seems to spin real good but the 8kv motor makes the planetary scream! It has no lubrication in it now so once i pack it with grease it should be ok. It looks super slow at the output so hopefully the final drive isn't to slow. I'm hoping to get the chassis together for a test run this week some time.
