I am considering making a new set of highlift axles, that only use the pumpkin part of the casing, with more brass bracing than the last lot. Current ones work fine so I'm in no rush to upgrade. Im definitely still working on it Thanks for the compliments guys, even though I havent updated anything | |

well the wheels are a wee bit larger than 1.9, theyre about 2.0 or something... I just figured to put it in 2.2 cause its a pretty large rig for its wheel size. |

| Pretty decent update
My Crawlmaster and Mamba max turned up today, Thanks John! They fit pretty good in the rig and make it sound like a darn robot I found out my planetery reduction is about 55:1 so that combined with brushless means Im going to break a lot of sliders as I get used to the throttle Im not entirely impressed with the startup on sensorless brushless, but with my low gearing it wont exactly matter. The underbody work is far from finished, Ive just mocked up the battery location and driveshafts. Waiting on steel u-joints to arrive from tower.I think I may haveto use a maxx size slider to go from the motor to the transfer - I completely shattered a plastic traxxas slider u-join when I was testing out the throttle The steering servo is now axle mounted, woks much better than before. The servos have also all been upgraded so the winch works great. pics: Its should all come together in the next few weeks |

If you ever come to the US, stop by with your rig and your FJ and my Bruiser can do a nice trail run. (Just got it today, excited to work on it)

Unreal build.. In the 3 or 4 years I've been trawling this site, I have yet to see anything that can be mistaken for the real thing this easily. Well done. ;) I skipped along a bit and seem to have missed something new.. what are you using for a transfer case, and Whats that planitary reduction box you have in there now? |

First of all, from an FJ fan, this rig is amazing ! Its a small touch (but isn't that what these scalers is all about ?),what about adding the louvres on the bonnet and front quarters ? |

| Wow very few threads have had my attention to the point that I read through it again and again. You deserve that gold star. I like showing people around the office this thread because nobody ever guests that it's an rc. Nice work, my jaw drops every time I look. Just so you know I am so speachless that it took me an hour just to write this. WoW |

WOW, I wish that I had found this earlier... A word on aluminum, it will work harden, if you want to continue to shape it then you must anneal it. This is done by setting up a sooty "carbonizing" flame with a torch and covering the aluminum with soot, then by setting up a neutral flame and using it to burn off the soot. Care must be taken to avoid overheating the aluminum, or you'll end up with a molten mess. Annealing can be done as many times as necessary. Heat-treated aluminum must often be annealed before shaping can be attempted, due to its hardness. One more thing, that old body can be finished with a product known as "Alumi-weld" which can be used with an LPG torch to join aluminum, not exactly sure where to find it though. I am in awe of your talents, and I hope this helps you. |
