I hear you. That ledge was not good for belly draggers.....it kicked my butt too. Thanks for coming out. You drove well and it was good to see you again.

WOW Shane
Since I have found interest in the 2.2S class and built one of my own I have now been reading all the threads in this section and this build is sick Very nice detailed work, Thanks for putting in the time

Yep, not a good showing for my driving skills that day with this rig. Saw'll good, I had a good time.

I'msure you'll be on the podium with it.

Thanks. I might do a motor/spur swap with this truck in the future. If I find some motivation. Other than that, the truck just works and I am leaving it as is.

I haven't drove this rig in almost a month. Giving it a break for a bit. Might comp in a couple of weeks.

Fixing something that ain't broke.

I tried this little 400 a while back but a 9t pinion with 90t spur wasn't geared to my liking.
Picked up a 93t spur from Crawler Innovations and put a 12t pinion on. The 400 cobalt motor is a 27t. Spur just clears with a 1mm spacer on the upper cross brace. That cross brace needs replacing too.

Weight before 4.63lbs
Weight after 4.47lbs

Goal is weight loss, we'll see how it crawls tomorrow.

I would say 30-40% more wheel speed with a little loss on low end start up. I can tweak the BR-XL settings to tune some of it out. Motor was kinda warm after 5 minutes of driving.

2.56oz of sprung weight was removed from the chassis so, weight and suspension tuning will be needed as well. First things that come to mind are raising the rear uppers a hole and adding a touch of knuckle weight.

Maybe a 10-11t pinion will help the heat and low end issues?!? I have one of those little motors and been wanting to try it. Never really pondered on the gearing and what you have should get me close.

I have two of the motors. One is brand new and the other is used. Nice weight reduction.

Thanks for the tip. I will probably be swapping out the pinion soon and testing it out.

Couple packs of testing and I am pleased so far.

Added 0.4oz to each front knuckle and raised the driver side rear upper up one hole.

Looks like a 10 tooth pinion will do the trick with the 93 tooth spur and 27 turn 400. Low end is smoothed out and still has plenty of wheel speed for jumps and gettin the truck off it's lid.
Motor was still warm after 8 minutes of hard driving but a little cooler than before.

I also added an additional 4mm of internal shock limiting to the front shocks for a total of 12mm internal limit and 8mm of external limit. Truck was feeling wonky and this toned it down just enough. Also keeps the front end down on steep verticals a little better.

So share your theory on raising the driver side rear upper link and leaving the passenger side down a hole...

Torque twist reduction with the side benefit of rear suspension geometry improvement.

Aaak...I'm losing it. Looking at your rig from the left side, climbing. Rear tires are powering counter clockwise. Therefore axle housing is reacting clockwise.

Moving that side link up a hole makes that link pull down harder on the chassis. Exactly wrong for TT reduction.

Where have I gone wrong?

I believe his theory is that by moving that link up he is reducing the traction to that corner.

You may have been correct.

The front driver upper link would need to one hole lower than the front passenger upper to reduce torque twist.

I will be doing some testing this weekend since I dropped 2.56oz off the chassis and added some to the front knuckles.
Should get some video but don't hold me to it!

Don't assume I know what I am doing 100% of the time.

How are those tires holding up and working out?
