So my problems this whole time have been due to the stock XR10 rear axle and the AX10 locker not working well together. My reason for running the wideners on the rear were so that I could run the HPI wheels with the narrow berg offset thus giving me a lighter wheel/hub combo along with having less rotating mass. However, the XR axles need to have longer tangs for this to work. My FreakStuff locker has been murdered in the process but upon further inspection my Highland Crawler locker is salvageable and will be back in operation. So in the future I'll be going back to stock AX straight axle parts (cheaper route) or hit up CreeperRob for some custom TI shafts.

XR top
AX bottom

This gave me hell at Crawlapalooza. I would have 4wd drive then I wouldn't. We were shimming this and shimming that... we were doing the shim-sham.
Everything worked up to about gate 6 on every course. I had to finish them in 3wd... very interesting! It hurt me pretty bad on steep verticals while it really helped on tight turns and shafty killer breakovers.

not to self: pay closer attention to the important stuff when scrambling at the last minute with new parts.

I seem to recall saying something along the lines of "if I had a sporty rig that placed 4th at Nats, then I would lock it in an air tight vault"! Not to be confused with "if I had a sporty that placed 4th at Nats, then I would tear it completly down and rebuild it"!

.................. You actually just felt sorry for my little losi, so you three wheeled it to give me the fourth place spot, didn't you!

I'm really digging the tight tolerances on the hex pin holes. That has cleaned up a nice amount of slop. These axles paired with a Highland Crawler locker make a grown man say wowwy! Thanks again for giving me a heads-up on the sale.

One of my courses at the last comp. The rig drove awesome, I'm really loving all of the changes. Driving this truck makes me a happy man, it never ceases to make me smile (except for that one time at crawlapalooza ). My motor and gearing setup is killing as well... you'll see

Thanks

It's Holmes Torquemaster Pro 30t with 90/12 gearing on 3s- the same setup that I ran at Nationals. That setup provides plenty of low end grunt with some nice wheel speed....it's about due for a new armature, though. I was thinking about trying a 27t.

Here are results and video from the last comp which was held on "Four Fingers" at Superlift ORV. There weren't any changes made from the last comp in December. I am pretty happy with how it's been driving.
