I'm going to some funky tires out for a while. They are Khaos/Sedona Hybrid tires narrowed to be a better fit on a 1" wheel. The foam setup is very simple with it being Crawler Innovations 1" closed cell inners and soft outers all around. This foam combo is perfect for these tires!

This truck is a blast to drive with it pulling off some crazy stuff. I put some 42.5wt oil in the rear shocks and that has helped a lot with how smooth the truck drives. So far it's been a second place truck but it's truly a 1st place truck deep down in my heart.

rtr weight: 5.34 lbs
front width 10.75"
rear width 10.375"

Hell hedded! Have question for ya. After the huge success of. A weekend at superlift, how would you feel bout a comp set up the same way for rc's? Rules would be : reverse allowed, no dig, run what ya bring, fastest to the finish. And have a course like "Greg's rocks" but a smaller version setup for rc's? What ya think?

Hmm not really up my alley, but I think that Rolandrockshop and Jeepial are hosting a scale trail ride this summer over there. There are also some really cool G6 competitions at the Crawler Innovations Compound down in the East Texas area.

Yes I am liking them! I'm loving the large sedona lugs mixed with the precision of the pin. They hook up easily in some spots where other tires have to work harder. Traction seems to get kinda squirelly in rap-rap rock due to so many uneven surfaces but at places like LRC with flowing rock these are going to perform very well.

They remind of a mullet hairstyle with them being all business on the outside but it's a party on the inside.

I brought home a decent win last weekend. The rig just doesn't stop amazing me at what it can pull off. A driveline equipped crawler just kills on execution!

I softened up the preload in the rear some and while it did create a little tire lift I just used it to my advantage. I saw in TC's thread where Turbo mentioned about clocking the pinion down to reduce twist, but I don't really want these driveshaft digging into the rocks. I might still try it just to see what it does. I've been beating on the Junfac shafts pretty hard and I've had zero failures to date. The heavy duty shrink does a great job.

The tires did what I told them to do... I can't complain much at all. The only thing that I didn't really like was that there size hindered performance when we go into the broken up rocks. The big footprint that I'm used to just wasn't quite there.

That line was awesome! You had to pull up and shimmy your way over to the finish gate without hitting the boundary at the top! I cleaned it!

Thanks, Ryan.

I'm not sure how much, but there should be a clip or two once Josh (rolandrockshop) edits the video.

Something is going on with this chassis/wheel base setup too. It stays at 12.49999999" throughout the entire suspension cycling. I am suspicious.
Rig does work well though.

I just built the truck around a bottomed out suspension on a wheelbase jig. The rest is magic.

With the right difference in height of the front to rear lower mounting points you can have one extending as the other is receding. As the front links compress they shorten the wheelbase but as the rear compresses it lengthens it.

Here are the videos from my last win. The rock was very slick! I went back to Rovers because they are more consistent and wider than the hybrids.

course 2 http://www.youtube.com/embed/qwojhHIazXM (my favorite)

course 3 http://www.youtube.com/embed/cD3DqHKfnqw

After the comp I changed up a few things:

now running .75 Evo wheels up front and 1.00" in the rear
soft outers up front and narrowed medium outers out back
10.5" track width (at the bottom of the tires) front and rear
comp cut the body even more
*new Mayhem D-Link (that's right.. the duuuuuuude link)

I'll try to get some pics up tonight once I get the clu/possum cleaned up.

After leaving ECC I kept repeating on the way home "I gotta tame this suspension"

so-

I've put 55wt is all shocks and swapped to pink and orange Mini -T springs. The rear anti squat is toned down considerably now and the truck drives smoother. I'm also trying out straight rear links in the rear, so far so good. The white delrin Duuuuuuude mount is a nice touch, it matches the chassis skid plate. We'll see how it holds up and maybe one day they will be sold. At first I just changed the shock oil (kept the green and blue springs) and while the trucks nastiness was toned down, it just wasn't as flexible as I wanted it to be. I swapped to the pinks up front and the oranges out back and all of a sudden this rig felt superb to drive. This is what it's needed for a while, softer springs with slower rebound.

I'm now running a 30t Holmes Hobbies handwound that was robbed from my jeep YJ with a 14t pinion. The top end is pretty awesome and the low end torque is nice! I'll probably drop down to a 12 or 13t pinion for some more torque before the comp this weekend.

...got sick of the Axial body, so I dug this Bug out of the closet
