So far I have had a blast with this rig. If feels really good to drive my own chassis and have it actually do fairly decent. It performed decent enough at the ARCC crawloff (2nd place finish behind Szczerba in 1st) that it's going to Nat's this year.

Directly after the crawloff I started tweaking the suspension again because I still hadn't got it right yet. The rig seemed uncontrollable on downhills and it was a bit floppy. So I have slowed down the suspension even more and softened up the front some. There is also new link placement, the uppers are lower and the Duuuuuuude mount has been flipped. So far the changes have really helped to settle down the rig. I have relocated the ESC, BEC and RX to the rear of the chassis, the RX is mounted right behind the tranny and the BRXL and BEC are mounted on a plate at the Duuuuuuude mount. I am hoping that this change will help settle the rig on downhills as well. Since those components were now unprotected I had to pick up an X-Citer body from Parma. Now I can fit in with the cool people and I have gangsta window tint and taillights like Shelby.

current weight : 4.9lbs

front wheel/foam setup:
Mayhem Evo .75 - #3 hubs - w/C.I. soft outers and closed cell inners - 6.3 oz

rear wheel/foam setup:

track width (measured at the bottom of the tire) :
front 10.5"
rear 10.3"

Shocks:
60wt oil all around
front - Mini-T rear silver springs (soft)
rear - Mini-T front orange springs (firm)

GC:
static: 2.9"
droop: 3.5"

Electronics on the rear? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
And you steady hatin' on my battery on the back of the truck.

But anyways, I like the balance of having some weight on the rear axle area on my 2.2s truck. Just drives better with some weight out back, IMO, LOL, JK,.

I know I know, and I see the benefits of having some weight back there as I watch the Ffzzczcerba go. When I see it run I'm like SMH OMG FTW LOL

OSHA pending. Goggles and gloves would be a good idea.

In preparation for 2012 Nats I've picked up a set of CI 5mm outputs and a 90t spur gear to see about getting more low end grunt out of my setup. With 87/14 gearing and my Holmes 35t Torquemaster it's always been a bit jumpy and I've liked that, but when in a bind sometimes there isn't enough grunt.

few pics of the inputs

I switched back to plastic transmission gearing

I started out with a 12t pinion and I lost a good amount of wheel speed while gaining a lot of torque. Rather than play around with pinions- first I am going to swap out the 35t Torquemaster for a freshly rebuilt 30t Torquemaster. will report back

she's looking killer, Aston. What was your reason to switch back to plastic gears? Not afraid to broke them with the Holmes power?

I just switched back from steel to Alu for weight reasons, but plastic?

Thanks, Dani! I switched back to plastic because Szczerba and Jeepsohigh talked me into it.

I know my time is limited with these gears but they are lighter and I don't plan on running them for too long since they are so cheap to replace.
