I gave this rig its first test run this weekend after our comp. It feels really good. It needs some tire and foam tuning pretty bad. Once I soften the tires up, I will start tweaking my link geo and weight. I had to listen to a bunch of negative Nancy's tell me that it was too light and would never work at that weight all day because we come from The land of the 10 pound droop shafty. Even with super stiff tires, the rig pulled lines that only an moa or dig rig used to be able to do. I let c@tfish drive the rig and he was amazed at what it could do. While he was driving I just snapped a couple videos on my iPhone real quick. I then used an app on my phone to piece it together and added some music so you don't have to listen to us bicker in the background. I will be going out again this weekend, so I can test it on more familiar rocks with shaved tires. Chaotic Crawlers El NiNo 3 first shakedown on Vimeo This is a lower quality version. For some reason I can't upload the higher quality one from any of that I have tried so far. |

I agree. The tires and foams are my first step. I have the rear limited internally. I might actually take the limiters out and loosen up the oil in there. I have 50wt in the rear and 30wt in the front. It definately felt a little stiff at times.

I agree. I used to run 90wt in the rear of my shaftys. I figured I would start with 50 and move down from there. I think I'm going to try 15 in front and 30 in the rear next. I figured we might as well keep the niņo tradition alive. It's the chassis that started it all for us and we designed this chassis loosely around the old ones.

Uh oh....I'm back & with a fancy new chassis to build my sporty up with. It's actually almost done & so far I gotta say...purty snazzy button nuts. Chassis just looks ready to crawl & it went together easy peasey. See y'all on the flip flop. J.D. |

| Re: -getting back to my roots shafty build- Nothing too crazy to report. I shaved the sidewalls and put softer foams in the tires. I took it out last weekend, but we had a huge snow storm come through and I wasn't able to crawl at all. I also just found a broken BEC wire last night, so I need to fix that this weekend. I ended up putting 20wt oil in the front shocks and 35wt in the rear shocks. I need to finish up all the small details this weekend(like mounting the body) Because I leave for west coast shootout in 1 week. |

I just drooped my sporty cause I was too past to internally limit my sprung shocks. Haha. My first test run will be course 1 on Friday. I may have internal limited the sprung shocks by then, but I doubt they'll be on the truck. But I better ring it juuuuuuuusssst in case.

If you need help with a droop setup..... I might know a thing or three about them. I have plenty of experience with those setups and we could get you all hooked up before you run on Friday. I pack a set of droop shocks in my tool box at all times. Just in case I feel crazy. |
