The time has come to get some work done.. the snow has fallin.. it "just" bumpers.. Haha, just some bad ass bumpers! I can't wait to chip the fresh powder coating off of them! Ok here goes.. I started with tear down.. all 4 bumpers, out with the old in with the new! All my bumpers are from Ryan at Bent Metal Works.. Starting with the front... I just dropped it in place to start with an didn't like it, too far out, it hit my bodies "bumper", too narrow for the bodies bumper.. Tho after trimming up an getting what was left of the bodies bumper cut off, it worked perfectly to th measurements I gave Ryan to make them.. see I like pushing the limit of squeezing the limit of obsticles an clearance.. so bumpers that stick out an hang down aren't for me.. All mounted an perfect.. lots of approach angle. Again I mounted it back far enough for the winch to be inside the front grill.. Didn't get my servo back on but I was on bumper mode.. hooks on an found a place for the shovel Ryan makes. I may be trimming it into a spade shovel tho.. maybe... On with the rear bumper.. not much to talk bout here, just one bad ass bumper! Stout for sure.. Next addition will be metal shock hoops an a rear 4 link truss, also from Ryan.. |

Being a Jeeper in 1:1, I love seeing the realistic comparison to your scaler. Very nice job on the build. I can tell my refrain from building my own scaler is ending soon!

Awesome thanks ky.. its a very smooth rig.. refrain! Hahaha... I try to refrain from from buying too much I don't need but not from building.. I grew up in a Toyota family an was the first to stray with my 88 limited xj.. now this. Well the wife wants to start running it.. so It's time for a new build.. just wish there was a early 2000 tundra body, like my old man's, out there.. other then the 1/8 scale one.. so a tamiya Tundra it is.. class 1 tacoma as well.. lol.. refrain.. not for me...

Thanks Chris.. I'm really liking them, the approach angles are sick! I can't wait to get them on the trail an on more rocks.

Got out to play a little.. A couple inches of snow on leaves is bad for traction, but the pitbulls did a great job doin work an keeping traction to the ground an the xj moving.. I think I'm due for a new motor or motor rebuild.. the HH 35t on 4s is bout what it use to be on 3s, I think.... It just doesn't seem to have the snottt it use too.. just broke it in with a little comm tlc an new brushes before this weekend.. I was thinkin a 16t puller motor or throwing in a diff 35t handwound to send off this one for a comm cut an rebuild..
