Update....

So I got out with my son a couple days ago an all was fine. He had his mini inferno out an me the xj.. then I noticed something not right with his, so I ran it an he ran the xj.. then something went wrong with the xj.. Wtf! Oh well, let's check it out.. here the spur gear was all funky, it was old, like all season last year old an was on the dingo when I bought it rtr.. so no loss there.. then I noticed something was more then that wrong.. the tranny has one screw half holding it in.. hmmm. 4s! ? Dunno.. so it got limped home..

He has a diff ball/gear problem. Didn't rip into it to fix it yet tho.. I ordered a center diff, it came locked. The front drive lost the springs to keep the drive shafts in place an was missing the cups.. all brushless power was goin to the rear an stripped the diff gear or hopefully just the pinion.. my thoughts.. anywho..

Well I got to looking an instead of testing the spare tranny I had sitting here, I wanted to run it today, I wanted a fix for mine.. well my xr mod, that I haven't done yet, came to mind.. when a hole strips in the axle we use a brass insert. Well I had a pack so I did it.. drill with a 5/32" bit an push the brass insert in.. its like a drywall plug that expands when you put the screw in.. nice tight hold...

Pics downloading still, there coming..

I also snapped some of the river rock crawling..

I like watching the tires work as much as I like watching the rig do work!

Room for pics..

The tranny mod.

It works! Holding up to a HH 35t pro, 16/87 gearing an 4s...

Some pics, I like watching the tires work as much as the rig.

This is by far my most reliable rig, an is excellent on trail, rock, or anything else I point it at!
Gtg this weekend, I should have some good pics an hopefully some good news on placement..

Seen those inserts before but never tried them, where did you buy them from?

The holes in the bottom stripped out, so I drilled them out a little bit more an pushed in the inserts. There threaded for 3m screws. There cheap an save ya from buying a new tranny case or anything else that's stripped out.. I got mine from Ittybitty..

THat is one nice XJ. I'm going to have to try those shocks and springs on mine. How did you mount the headlights?

Thanks. The shocks an spring setup is sick.. very predictable!

The headlights are mounted in place with automotive Amazing goop.. I use it for tons of things on all my rigs. Makes a real nice, clean way to mount body panels on comp rigs. Even use it on high impact areas of the body an an crash spots on my rally car.. keeps it from breaking up.

I have been a little busy with comp rigs an since the xj gives no problems, it doesn't get much love in between. :/

But.. Bent Metal Workz did it again! Great new products with excellent fitment!

I have had them for a month or so an felt/feel bad I held Ryan up on posting them.. good news out of it, I took a 1st in 1.9 on Fri night an a 1st in 2.2p Sat. Ended up in 5th with the xj, I need more scale points to get in the top 3.. I think driving wise I was 2nd place with it.. maybe could have been 1st but my wife said I hit gate 3.. the judge an I didn't see it..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uvJ...e_gdata_player

Other then that, the other two where perfect runs.. only got this one.. gate 5 was a trick bit the Pitbulls just bunkered down an pulled me thru! What an awesome tire!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ8L...e_gdata_player

Of course the course I didn't get was a bad a$$ course.. :(

Anyways back to the BMW parts..

After shaving the axle posts an mounting this sexy rear truss..

I noticed right away the OG links wouldn't work. Bad drive shaft angle, unless it was pointed up in the air this much..

So new links it was..

On to the front..

Done..

A little tid bit I didn't know.. metal shock hoops are only good for looks, not scale points, if they aren't welded or brazed.. wish I would have known.. lol..

Time for another rausch comp and the poor xj has been neglected, till tonight...

Well, she was my first from when I started. My soldering wasn't good an my knowledge was minimal, so the electronics stayed cased an the wires a Mile long!

My electronics box had the rx an bec in it and the esc on the outside.

What a MESS!

So with a little time an a new(to me) fxr, instead of waterproofing it, I decided it was goin in the box. Along with by the rx, bec an 4s cap..

HH 16t crawlmaster.. very smooth and more wheel speed then the HH 35t torque master I took out.

I replaced the bearings in my knuckles as well now I wish I would have the time to do the rest of by he rig. I couldn't believe how much wheel wobble the new bearings took out.. time for More

I'll post some pics an video some time after the comp sat. Like when I find WiFi to download them..

Thanks on the cake. I actually had a pic with the cake an scx on the xj. It was just a bit dark to make out..

It has some wheel wells. Not very flattering ones but work for points.. lol..

@ natedog an kitty.. thanks its been a long time runner and yet to crap out on me.. she needs, much like the 1:1, a overhaul! This winter would be a good time.

I got video of the last comp but realized how long it took to download my comp vids, so never downloaded.. another comp tomm. I'll get last comps posted sat or sunday. Then try an work on this comps..
