Is the HPI rs4 ifs worth it ? Or would you choose a different ifs ?

I can't decide building a scx-ifs rig or getting a twin hammers.

Ahh. I was reading your question too hard.

All the HPI RS4 parts can be had at AsiaTees. So that's not an issue.
There is one website that still may have a few sets of the MIP CVD's. those had to be modified.
The main thing is to setup the IFS travel and steering throw to correctly work with the steering axles used. If you dont, there will be front axle shaft breakage. I finally got it figured out when yotapane showed me some ideas.

The truck crawled great. All the weight was up front and down low.

I saw where Blue Monkey RC may be, may be working on an SCX IFS setup.

For an SCX width IFS setup, the RS4 is a good option since the diff housing uses the same diff as the axial housing. I notice some people use the Mini Revo parts, but the gear ratios are different.
I was thinking of possibly trying the Mini Revo sliding driveshafts along with the RS4 diff set up to see if I can get a little more steering capability from this rig.
That will be a couple weeks out though, just bought a house and most of my free time is set aside for working on renovating the new place.

If BMRC is working on a conversion, the main thing they will need to figure out is the CVD/Drive shafts as Shane noted.

Monkeyracer is still working on this truck. He sent a few pics to me the other day.

Very slowly, but still working on this...

I started playing around with ideas for a different body:

Would need to modify the cage a little bit, but I like the pre-runner look for this. Either that, or something else... Still trying to figure it out.

Spent my Sunday morning reading this entire thread. I think this is the perfect truck. Little scale, little bash, little crawl, little shortcourse. I would love to see this with a rally raid or Dakar style body. What's the effective WB?

Oh and if any vendors are reading:

The WB on this one was around 12" I think, but not sure. It may be buried in the thread somewhere. This rig is now somewhere in California, but I am not sure the new owner is on this forum, so we may not see any pics or updates on this build.
I think this is the next step for axial; an IFS SCX/Mini Yeti. They have the tools to get it done, but I don't think they see the potential. Really all it would take is some new suspension arms, universals, and front half chassis. I'd even be willing to draw up the parts ready for manufacturing (for a portion of the profits, of course). Twin Hammers sized competition...

Word on the street is that the next model is an XL Wraith.

Like this?

Jeepkid83 is making a Mini Wraith from a Twin Hammers. Saw it in person a few weeks ago.

I am wondering the same thing. My buddy ended up with your twin hammer/scx Eric. It took some tweaking but it's one of the best 1.9 rigs I've saw. Does stuff only the yeti can match. But I've got an old rs4 sitting on the shelf with the mip axles and can't decide wether to do the twin hammers mod or this one.

The twin hammers is more or less bolt in. If you read through Shane's thread you will see it more involved. Parts are getting harder to find for rs4. But there not much aftermarket for the twin either.

I pull this thread from the deep to ask one question: How did you connect the front shaft to the RS4 diff? Is it really just as simple as using an scx10 input shaft?

You mean the front axle shafts/locker/drive cups?

Just a VP locker that holds the drive cups in.

Or the pinion gear/driveshaft/trans? Same as ax10.

Just note, the rear axle has to be flipped, due to the HPI front end bevel gear orientation.
