Well, I have been fidgety all week waiting for my servo extension. I can't do any powder coating during the week because there's not enough time during the weekdays.

So yesterday I installed some shelving. It's rather basic except for one thing I did which I wanted to share. It took the 13.75" long Fast Track Bracket and cut it in half. Then I drilled an extra hole in each half. It help cut down on the costs:

I have a little more room on my workbench now. Today I'll be powder coating.

I spent around three hours on Saturday fixing a design flaw on my tire/jerry can carrier. I spent the rest of the time powder coating my wheels and mounting them on the Baja Claws.

Before and after comparison.

I like the backside .... excuse the pun .

Now that I finished chroming my wheels I installed them and the steering links and servo.

I won't be able to finish the electronics until I get my winch and install my lights and light controller. This is what I have so far.

So, now on to some body work ...

Stay tuned. Paint is on the way.

Dude this thing is sick!
Any updates on how waterproof the motor is? How did you get the silicon so precisely applied?

Thank you.

No updates on the effectiveness of the waterproofing since this Jeep hasn't touch rock yet.

I applied the silicone with my finger. I used a damp cloth or camp paper towel to remove the excess. I use DAP silicone.

In addition to the silicone I used marine grease that I used for my boat trailer from my wakeboarding/boating days (owned a Wakesetter VLX) and packed it around the motor shaft.

We'll she how it does. Time will tell.

Windshield is installed. I had to temporary remove the mirrors to install the windshield.

I started on the rear lights. I saved these pieces of clear plastic. I'm going to use this clear plastic to make my rear light lens.

I taped some masking tape to the plastic and then cut small pieces. I drew an outline too.

Here's the small lenses. I drilled a small pilot hole for the LED.

I sprayed them with a translucent red.

Drilled the final hole.

Fit the the LED.

Here is the way they look. I made a few extra lenses just in case.

Rear Lights continued ...

Here are rear LED light holders installed.

I added my homemade red lens.

And a close up.

Added the sticker and cut out a portion. Later, I found out that cutting out a portion was not necessary. The sticker was enough to get the lighting I was looking for. I wanted the rear lights to look like running lights and not like the brake lights were on. I didn't want them to bright so I was better off with the sticker. Oh well.

This is the way they look with the light on.

A close up.

I re-stickered the piece I removed.

Another close up.

I think that should do it for the rear lights.

Thank you. I appreciate your comments.

On the rear lights I was going to drill a hole on the side to get some light for the side marker. But I was happy the way they came out so I quit while I was ahead.

Here's a photo of the inside.

I was looking at my Jeep contemplating my next move when it hit me. A name for my Jeep. I've never named any of my rigs, but this name just hit me out of the Blue.

I'm going to call this Jeep City-Slicker.

A few photos in the dark.

I like the way the taillight shows up.

The body are lights are from Asia Tees ($10.35). The headlights aren't the brightness (single LED). I'm counting on my light bar to provide the necessary lighting for night time driving. At least, that's the plan.

One last note, the photos were taken with the lights hooked up to a 2s. I will be running 3s, so they should be a tad brighter. Also, I will be adding some white backer since the metallic silver and chrome backing was not enough.

Maybe when my new camera arrives I'll take a few more photos on 3s and the additional white backing.
