Thank you for those nice comments. I have the following rigs:

My first crawler (four wheeler). I painted it to match my '83 Toyota pickup which I used to own. Also made the front end and rear bumper like my '83:

I always liked the two door Jeeps so I build one:

I also have a Twin Hammers which I used once. I may put it up for sale:

You've already seen my Candy Blue City Slicker Jeep Unlimited. Trying to finish up my Jeep G6. And that's all I have for now.

Dude i am tempted to build a yota now that i saw yours. I love that gray on silver. Is that SCX10 w/ a yota body or like TF2 or Tamiya.

Thank you. I built it to look like my old '83 Toyota SR5 pickup. It's a SCX10 on a Tamiya body. Click here to see the build thread.

I first used this technique on my SCX10 Toyota Hi Lux (see post #10). But after inspecting the motor I went another route.

This is what I did. First, I inspected the motor and sensor cable.

Where the wires enter the plug one can see the metal connectors.

Looking at the motor I can see that around the plug for the sensor cable are small openings where water could enter.

It looks like water can enter around where the posts are too.

On the side where the motor is mounted to the mounting plate there are holes for the M3 screws. My first thought was just to fill the extra holes with silicone. Instead of that, I'm going to go to the hardware store for some M3 set screws to plug the extra holes. If I don't find any that fit, then I'll use silicone.

So going back to the sensor cable. I added silicone around where the wires enter the plug. Now you can't see the wire metal connectors.

Flipping over the senor cable, here is the other side.

Plugging in the sensor to the plug is a very tight fit. I doubt any water will get in. Nevertheless, after plugging the sensor cable in I'll add a little silicone around the plug.

Moving on to the sensor plug, I added silicone around the plug.

A side shot.

Next, are the posts. Here is a close up of the post before adding silicone. You can see the opening where water could get in.

Here's how it looks after adding silicone around the bottom of the posts.

Here's a close up of the back side of the posts.

Once I solder the wires onto the posts, I'll put more silicone around the posts to prevent water from causing a short.

Lastly, there is a small square hole where water could get into the motor. I just put some silicone.

Here's a close up.

Anyway, this is my attempt to waterproof the ROC 412. Now, I can start installing my electronics on the chassis.
Your not worried about the motor overheating?

Nope. My guess is that most of the heat dissipates from the aluminum case.

Thumbs up Master Trump.

I have two questions if Master Trump would be so kind to have pity on me.

1). Where did you get the wipers from as I can't find any, anywhere.

2). Where is this crawling heaven that you spoke of a few pages back?

Thank you for those kind words. I'm always willing to help out. If only I knew how to weld then maybe I would be a master builder. For now I just assemble things together.

The wipers come from the Axial exterior parts tree - black (AX80038)

Here's a link to Crawler Heaven aka "The Good Spot" in Victorville, CA.

Thanks Trump. The Crawl Heaven spot is just a few miles at most from a childhood friend of my wife's that we visit 2-3 times a year. Guess it is time to go visit and go crawling.

Awhile back after I bought the Tekin Hotwire I searched for a USB to micro cable. I never was able to find one after numerous searches. I ended up buying an adapter.

Well I found a cable while looking for fluorescent tubes, of all places, Home Depot.

Anyways, I wanted to share this information.

Short update:

I installed a Castle BEC with silicone on the ends like I have done previously. I also removed the lower part of the RS Gen2 case. I figure I didn't need to have a case within a case.

Took it for a test run for almost 10 minutes. Motor temps were between 87°F and 100.3°F. ESC temps were between 93.6°F and 203.2°F. Significantly down from before. I'm happy for now since it didn't shut down once.

I think I may have room for a heat sink under the ESC. So I'll probably order a heat sink, but hold off on the installation.
