The ae-5 isn't a bad esc, it is a re-branded Hobbywing product. Hobbywing makes some decent inexpensive esc's. Pick up a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster 13t and you will be fine. If you want an upgrade later on, look into a Castle Creations ESC, Holmes has a BRXL or even the Castle Sidewinder esc is decent.
