Thanks Ossipee! Yeah probably sliders for me too. I'm hoping to get some nice ones that have full running boards to mount the electronics on the drivers side and a 2200 pack on the passenger side. I'll do a bumper mounted winch for extra scale points.

Should do a build thread. Also your ride height looks quite high.

| Re: ToyZuki's SCX10.2 I am definitely still going with the China JK body just need to get it ordered. Not much progress lately due to a recent move and the holiday season making things even more hectic. We just got into our new house last week and we're still unpacking looking for all my parts and tools. I was keeping all my progress in this thread to consolidate information and really only planned to update information related to the chassis build itself but I may do a build thread. I'm not really doing anything earth shattering with this build just my personal combination of preferred bolt ons. I am very excited to get the body going so I can get my awesome custom bumpers and sliders fabbed. As soon as any progress is made I'll make sure to post an update. I was fortunate enough to snag a set of Curries from the second batch so I'll be putting those on Monday or Tuesday along with some wheels I scored during the Black Friday sales. She's definitely going to be a nice looking truck if nothing else. |

I'm putting mine together and have an issue....this thing is wider than a normal SCX10 and my aftermarket steel bumpers wont fit.

So...the nuts slid in to my T-case with minimal effort...but, I just CAN'T get any to fit into the rear chassis spreader! I am about to take a hammer to them, unless you guys can offer a better solution. (Yes, I will be ordering the 68-70mm rods if I cant get them in) |

Dremel? Or a file?

All of mine were a pain in the ass to get in. I used pliers and a backing plate to press the ones in the motor mount and T case. I didn't even bother with the nuts in the rear. The plate is there and it's snug but I'm using 4 70mm posts to actually tie together and brace the entire rear chassis section. Those nuts are doing little more than locating the panels in place anyway.

I have a cheap little file set from Harbor Freight that just happened to be a perfect size. Unfortunately, I still broke a part off on the motor mount when I forced the nut in. I used a bit of CA glue to put it back on after I tightened the screw, but I'm not really sure how well that will hold up. I really like the chassis itself along with all the adjustability that it provides, but I wish it was all held together differently. The motor mount especially...There are a few other issues that I had that will be addressed in a build thread, but my damn phone decided it no longer wanted to be a touchscreen so thats going to take a few days to get started. |

I like how it goes together the nuts just fit too tight I knew that was gonna be a complaint when I got my chassis.

Put the locknut on the screw, hold the screw with a pliers, and hit two opposing flats on the locknut with the dremel for about 5 secs with a sanding drum. You can get them to still fit snug but not have to force them in. Here is the bonus tip... don't sand the nut in the direction of the threads or it will end up spinning off the screw. Instead, dremel the flats so that the sanding drum is spinning away from the screw head. Last edited by TSK; 12-11-2016 at 02:33 AM. |

The 3rd link up front...it jumps from left to right to left to right as you scroll through pics on page 1...what's final call on that?

IIRC the SSD bumper mounts inside the frame rails? Scalerfab bumpers mount on the outside and so does the other one that I tried. The width inside the frame rails may be the same as stock, but the width outside the frame rails isnt due to the thickness of the G10.

Get a vice and bend them to the correct width.
