Thanks Eric! And on that note, I completely changed up the gearing!

Seriously, I pulled the tranny for a rebuild....luckily too as the large output bearing was crunchier than a bowl of grapenuts!

I also added a Crawler Innovations Wraith output shaft, Maxx shafts and a Tekin Redline 17.5T motor with 66T spur (32p) and 11T pinion:

(I did have to extend the motor mount holes a bit to fit the gearing I wanted)

Since I bumped up the gearing from stock (4:1) to 6:1, I will now be running this truck on 4S to get back the speed that makes this truck so much fun!

I wanted something that was smoother on the low end. The motor I found for a good deal in the classifieds...that was just the icing on the cake.

I finished everything up:
(I realized after this pic that I forgot to heat the shrink )

ESC tucked up nicely:

And new, quieter, driveshafts:

This truck is now faster and has more torque!!

It weighs in at 7lb 14.4oz

I took this truck out for a test run today.....it is MUCH faster than my previous setup and it crawls a whole lot better. The low end is much smoother.

Oh yeah, it also jumps perfectly! Seriously, it lands flat even with the heavier battery up front.

Sweet, is there any slop where the Maxx shafts attach to the CI output shaft or rear shaft? You just drilled out the 5mm maxx shaft ends or?

Got any updated underhood pics?

Well, I had pinion for the rear that was one of the new versions (with the through hole)....but the rear I had to drill out. It was pretty easy.

No slop at either end.

Post 124 shows what it looks like under the hood as of now.

If its the kit from CI the yokes come drilled. When I put the maxx yokes on my honcho I have to press them on they are pretty tight.

You dont have to modify (other than cutting them to get the length you want) the maxx shafts to fit if you use the Crawler Innovations output.

It's a 4S lipo.

I'll try to get a picture of the underhood this evening.

It was barely being rubbed by the MIP shafts that were on there before....these maxx shafts were up close and personal with that ESC.

I got a little work done on this truck over the weekend. I swiped a few ideas from GoingUp's build thread:

Chopped the rear cage, added an Exo light bar and added a brace between the shock towers. The brace got rid of the flex I was seeing at the shock mounts.

Thanks to all who replied on the Maxx driveshaft answers. Jeremy, nice take on the old chop the rear of the cage, twist the tubes and use some existing holes.

Thanks man. I think it looks good. Nice and sleek! I've got a few more upgrades planned for this truck in the near future.

Thanks Michelle! You and Rowdy did a NICE job on these trophies!

This truck is just plain fun to drive! That course was 4 miles long and it handled everything like a champ! MUCH better than the driver chasing it!

I won a fully built SuperShafty transmission in the nats giveaway and plan to install it in this truck. Should make this thing even more bulletproof!

I ordered two of the Dinky Link Servo Mounts for this truck:

When I opened the package, I realized that I had ordered two fronts instead of one front, one rear. Oh well, I went and found my spare housing, flipped it over and used it on the back.

Just a note here, if you are running the Axial sway bar in the front, you're gonna have to flip the bolt around that holds the passenger shock/sway bar link.

I am liking this setup. Servo sits low and the truss should make the axle nice and strong. I'll put a pack through it tomorrow....if the rain holds out.
